Denim New : :

Last October, at Fall Quilt Market in Houston, Art Gallery Fabrics introduced their newest substrate line, The Denim Studio by AGF, including an array of high quality denim prints, colors, textures, and weights. Since, I have enjoyed creating with them so much! I've added them to my quilts, home décor projects, bag-making, and I'm just getting started! With each new denim release, comes a new idea to mix & match these beautiful fabrics with my stash of AGF quilting cottons. Before I share my brand-new denim project today, I want to give introduction to AGF's most recent denim delivery!

First up, four new printed denims, including two floral and two geometric designs. I love mixing and matching all the printed denims together in patchwork projects especially. I have simple tote bag making plans for later this week and my collection of printed denims, combined with the smooth solids denim blues, are on the chopping block!

New Printed Denims

My personal favorites to arrive at my door are these new Crosshatch Textured Denims, available in three shades -- Clouded Horizon, Babbling Brook, and Rainy Night. These are a heavier weight and will be perfect for both bag and pillow making!

Along with beautiful denims, The Denim Studio by AGF includes a series of additional premium substrates. These are the Outland Yarn Dyes, a 100% cotton woven fabric in five rich colors including vanilla, crimson, rose, deep ocean, and paradise blue!

This final collection is so unique and pretty! These Streaked Blend fabrics are a cotton mix with a gorgeous silver metallic thread woven throughout. It's not coming through so much in photos, but in person these ones really sparkle! I'm so excited to have these new fabrics to sew with!

Just before these new fabrics arrived late last week, I finished a new Quick Quilt As You Go drawstring backpack made using the first denims released by AGF. I combined a mix of denim prints with solid smooth blues to make this two-sided, fun backpack.

and easy, denim stripes for the reverse side!

Every bit of this new bag, with the exception of cotton batting and the Aurifil thread used to stitch it up, is AGF's amazing denim. I even made a spool of denim double-folded bias tape, stitched closed, to have ready for future drawstring bag and backpack making!

I just love the creativity and texture these substrates have added to my projects! Denims have such a lovely realm of possibilities, don't you think? I hope you're feeling inspired to add a little denim sewing to your to-make list, as well!
