A Little Inspiration : :

I am completely in love with my newest pillow purchase, I have to share it! I have such a weakness for the Anthropologie House & Home section, it's a pull only comparable to my love for fabric! I think it looks pretty next to my Indie quilt, which I'm preparing to have long-arm quilted soon! I'm excited to have finally decided that our bedroom is going to be the "Indie Room". Indie is at the tops of my favorite fabric collection list, so I'm certain it will make a beautiful bedroom!

New Pillow Love!

The color and pattern of my new little bowls and plates have me inspired to put together a new bundle of fabrics today! Aren't they pretty?!

Color & Pattern

Pretty Dishes

These West Elm Modernist Mugs inspired one of my most favorite bundles ever, the Sweet Summer Dream Blogger Bundle I put together for Pink Castle Fabrics!

Inspired by Dishes

Which turned into my favorite quilt to date, My Improv & LilyBelle Quilt As You Go!

Finished Last Night!!

Which I had said was a quilt for me, but I actually gave it to my amazing Mom, who is completely thrilled with it!

So, today I'm thinking it's time to revisit the favorite-dish-inspired-fabric-bundle once again! And, I'm wondering and would love to know -- what inspires you?

Maureen

  1. I am mostly inspired by anything purple. Lilacs, grapes, violets. My favorite are the Purple Roses(Called "Blue Boy")that grow in my flower bed. Look forward to seeing them to bloom each year.

  5. I have to say I'm inspired by nature and I'm lucky enough to live in a place where it's in abundance! Right now all the tree that bloom ~ are and lots of them smell so good.
Love the little dishes and bowls. Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores to go to.

  6. You inspire me. You use such bright, cheery colors and combinations I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. Patterns and color combinations inspire me, like yellow and grey, aqua and peach, and of course my favorites are blues, greens and browns.

  8. Um, ok....

#1. The pillow, plates and bowls = gorgeous! Do we get to see your fabric bundle?
#2. That was so generous of you to give away your quilt to your mom. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to give that beauty up :)

    Have a wonderful week!

  10. I know about your weakness for Anthro! I went in a couple of weeks ago and thought of you. I rarely go, but I do enjoy it when I do. Your new pillow is lovely, and it does work well with the Indie quilt!

    1. Jeanne, they're from Anthropologie, as well. I link to them above but I just did a search and it looks like they are all sold out with exception to this plate -- http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/A25975152.jsp?null

  13. Anthropologie bowls are fabulous. I keep pins in one, bracelets in one, sugar packets in one -- anything I can use as an excuse to buy a single bowl. (grin)

  14. I am inspired by bloggers, as well as by browsing online fabric shops and designer's websites to see the fabrics and go from there.
I LOVE Indie. I wish my hubby wasn't so opinionated about what we should do with our bedroom, or I would have chosen it to use in there. We have lived in our house two years now and our bedroom is the only room not decorated... WHY? Because we have very different opinions about the color scheme/design, so we are at a stalemate :) I will eventually come up with something we both love.

  15. Colour! I feel like I am only just now discovering it. Strange, but true!

  16. Oh the Indie room is going to look fabulous! I'm inspired by designers, and things I see around me - often shop windows, after all fashion shops have to be 'up to the minute' and their windows are usually full of different colour combos

  19. Color inspires me ... usually with a prop of something I love to make .. a tote bag or a purse or a quilt ... if I see COLOR in a quilt, I feel I need to investigate further .... thanks for the opportunity.

  20. I am inspired by "things" or "ideas". I like having a theme to what I am making.

I like trying to recreate the look of an object, as I am attempting to do now by making a "beehive box" quilt, or as I would in making a realistic painting. I also like using the colours or imagery from objects to create something more abstract (like you did with your mugs).

I like to have a person and a purpose in mind when I am creating something. Who am I making it for and why? Will it be useful to them? Does it reflect something about them or the things that they like? Then I think about the colours, patterns or imagery based on that information.

At least thats how I normally do it. Sometimes I just have fun :)

  23. That is so sweet you gave your qayg to your mom. My inspiration right now is all the color, you, and this movement of modern quilters and bloggers that are popping up. I don't know if I've been hiding in a cave and stuck in my ways, but I'm hooked.

  24. I'm inspired by the nature around us, I live up a French mountain and the stark whites and greens of winter, compared with the beautiful flowers in summer are more than enough inspiration. I like earthy tones and I definitely feel inspired when I look out of the window. timolily@orange.fr
