I'm so excited to finally be able to share with you today the first project I created for Janome, a Poppy Applique Pillow.
Inspired by those Poppy's out my kitchen window and my love of all things coral, using several of the amazing built-in stitches that my Horizon Memory Craft 12000 offers, and a variety of Aurifil thread, I came up with this simple and fun Poppy Applique pillow design for Janome!
It was such a treat to find a use for my lovely, coral Wool Aurifil. You can see how much texture using this thread adds!
I also love how the built-in Applique stitches that I used to add the black thread details to the center of the poppy flower, look so sketched. I can't wait to use these stitches on a new "sketch stitch" piece!
You can find the written instructions for this Poppy Applique Pillow on the Janome Content Page here! As always, feel free to email me if you have any questions!
I hope you enjoy it! ♥ Maureen

so cute! love those stitches :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful Maureen! I already know you are super-mega-talented with the "sketched" free motion stuff, but those stitches are ah-mazing! Match made in heaven. ;) Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty and modern, and I love that!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad you think it's modern -- I did too, which is why I chose to photograph it in this space rather than in my own bedroom which is everything BUT modern!! :)
DeleteWow, what a perfect use for those stitches Maureen! Those triangles look seriously cool.
ReplyDeleteLove this!! Thanks for sharing and congrats on your first project for Janome.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I still can't believe that I get to create projects for Janome with such an amazing sewing machine!! It doesn't seem real!
DeleteThis is such a gorgeous pillow Maureen! Now I'm wondering if my machine does that awesome triangle stitch :)
ReplyDeleteWow, Maureen!! How cool that your machine can do stitches like that...certainly is the perfect project for those triangles. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHey Maureen....this is just the cutest pillow!! thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow ~ so bright and cheery! lucky you!
ReplyDeleteMmm, splendid! I agree; my favorite part is the center stitching.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow! I really LOVE to appliqué using my Viking. But you have sparked an interest in the Janome and I will definitely have to check it out! Also, like your blogs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Holley! My last machine was a Viking Iris. What kind do you have? I think that machine has 16-20 built-in stitches and this Janome has 450+!! It's a dream machine!! I LOVE it!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous pillow! so, so adorable!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pillow Maureen, Thanks for such a great closeup of your fantastic stitching.
ReplyDeletethat is adorable! i love the black stitching. it perfectly captures the center of a poppy.
ReplyDeleteGreat pillow! And thanks SO much for reminding me again to use the built-in stitches on my machine - duh! - I'm really doing a disservice to my machine not to, ya know!?
ReplyDeleteOh That is just so beautiful, you are having fun with your new machine, totally jealous...............and I LOVE Poppies (note the name on my blog, He! He!)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely evening, cheers, T. :)
That looks great! Love all the different stitch styles =D
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative use of the stitches! Poppies are the CA state flower, I might have to make one or two for my patio to keep the other flowers company
ReplyDeletelove that pillow
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty pillow! I remember your poppy post and you saying that you would make a poppy themed project, great job!! =D
ReplyDeleteOoh, pretty, and love the fancy stitches :o)
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the personality in all of those stitches--it's really lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! It was a fun project! I love using unique stitches this way, it keeps it fun and interesting!!
DeleteWow, that is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou make it look so easy! I'll have to check out the instructions and see if it is something I can do even if I don't have a fancy sewing machine. It's such a nice pop of color against that white bed, but I think it would be really nice to add this to one of the chairs in my sun porch.
ReplyDeleteСтильная подушка получилась. Вышивка очень украсила. Аппликация необычная.
ReplyDeleteuh oh! You're making lust after a new sewing machine....not good since it's not in "the budget"! LOL! Beautiful poppy pillow and I too love the black stitches in the middle...cool effect!
ReplyDeleteoh! Coral is one of my favourite colours as well. The wool stitching around the petals looks great, and gives the poppy a sharp edge.
ReplyDeletehow did i miss this post! oh i love this pillow so much maureen! it is perfect! those stitches are amazing! i can't wait to see what you are able to sketchsew with it.
