Valentine Appliqued Apron Set : :

Well, I'm back today with yet another Mother/Daughter project!

Valentine Applique Apron Set

I'm starting feel sorry for my boys. I know they don't care, but a little Mama guilt started to settle in yesterday. I better come up with something for each of them soon. Sewing for boys is tough for me, how about you? My guys are nine and almost eight, it really is a challenge! Please do share any ideas/suggestions you might have! I'd love to hear!!

Alright, back to these aprons! Now this was a fun project. Really fun!

our aprons

I have been wanting to share a little applique tutorial here for awhile now, but I knew I didn't want to make another pillow. Although, this would make a pretty cute pillow, I think.

applique village

I picked up this ticking fabric with tea towel making in mind (I'm almost ready to show you those), but with Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought a sweet apron set to wear around the kitchen would be special and fun!

An apron for Little Miss

I kept the main apron design the same for the both of us (although I have one more little house in my village), and then we each picked out the fabrics we liked for the waistband and ties.

An apron for Mama

My ties are extra long to tie in the front, and her's tie nicely in the back.

An apron for Little Miss

It was another special sewing project we were able to do together. I only hope she will cherish these days, projects, and photos as much as I will!

hugs :)

Tutorial for this raw edge applique and ticking apron making for Mama and Little's to come very soon! Stay tuned!!

Linking up with Fabric Tuesday today!!

  2. Those are adorable aprons! I haven't sewn much for my son either but he has knit toys coming out of his ears!

  3. Very pretty Maureen!!

I agree on the sewing for/with boys. A fave of my guys when they were little was the "magic pillowcases". They get to pick 3 fabrics and it's all straight seams and you get a finished pillowcase with no exposed seams that they love!! I always had trouble getting them to take it off to wash it. Lol!

  5. Lovely aprons. My boys are nine and eleven. Pillowcases are good, and mine like storage bags, too. Action figures, cars, building toys, marbles, and any other little thing that boys like to collect go great in pouches and drawstring bags. Sometimes it is tough to find fabric that is "boy enough" for them.

  7. ADORABLE!! I love the aprons. I always had a hard time making things for my boys. As a matter of fact, I started a quilt for my son for Christmas, but I hated how it was turning out, so it's still sitting in the basket. One suggestion, being that your boys are young, how about making THEM a tool apron. With pockets and tool applique like hammers and nails and screwdrivers. They could be big helpers and have a place to keep their little worker tools.

  14. It's the joy on her face that momma made something with and for her that comes through in these pictures. Good momma! As far as the boys go, ammo pouches or ammo belts, drawstring bags, boys like scarfs too, pajamas, pillow cases, quilts, capes. We have three boys and they are often sewing with me or asking me to make something specific. Check their rooms and see if something needs a "sewing solution".
    Love the aprons!

  18. CUTE APRONS!! I have a boy and a girl (both in college now) and sewing for my son was soooooooo difficult and I always felt guilty (still do!). When he was 'little' I would make little seasonal vests for him to wear (Valentines, Easter, St.Patricks,Christmas, fall) but he grew out of that idea too quickly. Just this Christmas I made him a new pair of fleece pants (he wears them under his snowmobile pants or just for lounging - he DOES live in Bozeman MT and is quite chilly most of the time), at his request I made a camera strap for him and 3 little camera lens bags. If my son was still small I'd be all over the super hero capes you see on Pinterest right now and the adorable dragon tails! Now I think I need to make one of these aprons for my daughter's wedding shower. ;)

  19. Another thing I did was to save so many of my son's tshirts and for his 18th birthday I presented him with a quilt top (going to make into a duvet). These shirts were from 3 years old and up! He was pretty surprised by that.

  21. What adorable aprons. LOVE THOSE! Great job. I have been contemplating buying some yardage of ticking to make my own towels and these just give me one more reason to move that fabric up on my wish list. Can't wait to see the tutorial.

  30. Okay. I ooohed and aaahed over these and sent the link to a friend and 'pinned' them yesterday, and apparently forgot to comment on how much I love these! I do, though. They're just perfect!

  31. Wow, those are just way too adorable!!! You're so right about crafting with and for boys. I have two daughters - 12 and 9, and I make tons of bags, pillows, and quilts for them. My son, who's 6, gets very little in that area. But, he loves cooking with me so I might adjust the applique on this wonderful apron and make one for his that's boyish. Thanks for the idea.

  34. I’d like to go to your weblog extra often but recently it appears to be taking without end to come back up.
I visit from work, and our connection there is pretty good.

Do you suppose the issue could possibly be in
    your finish?
