Studio New!

Since it's been a little bit, today I thought it would be fun to share some of the photos I took of my studio last week!

Studio New

Once the walls and furniture were painted and everything cleaned, at the top of my to-do list was to unpack my Soulful fabric samples to recreate a similar display to the one I had created for Quilt Market when
I showed Soulful. It's so nice to have the space now, to enjoy seeing on a daily basis the hard work that goes into the sample making and display designing. After a show, often I would leave samples in my suitcase for weeks or I'd have to sell them right away because I didn't have the space to keep them in my sewing room at home. Had I had this much space when I began designing fabrics, I'd certainly have more than enough goods to open up a shop already!

Now that my Love Story fabrics are widely available and the samples I made using this new collection are home from their travels to AGF, I was exited to put Soulful on the shelves to make room for a  Love Story display right away!

Love Story at the Studio

I didn't show Garden Dreamer or Love Story at International Quilt Market, so I'm especially excited to put together this simple display to share here on the blog. I have plans to make a small quilt to hang on the wall above my collection of Love Story pillows, I just need to decide on a pattern. I also ordered more rolls of the Italian crepe paper that I used to make those big, beautiful paper flowers that I decorated
my Flower Child booth with. I hope to make a dozen or so to use both for this studio Love Story display and for Flower Child when that collection arrives in April!

Love Story Display

This is the view from my sewing machine and this space has truly been such a wonderful blessing for my own creativity and goal setting. I shared around the holidays that while working at this new studio, without the distractions of home chores, I've had so much time to think about the goals and plans I have for this space and my future as a maker and fabric designer. I LOVE designing fabrics more than I could ever express, but just as much I love making things with ALL fabrics. I know that pattern writing is not a strength of mine, but I do hope to both inspire other makers by all the things I make & share, and to also sell my handmade goods. I've never enjoyed making so much as I do these days in my new studio, and I've been a maker my entire life!

Love Story Wall

I hope you'll enjoy seeing the occasional "Studio New" post from me on how this new space of mine changes and evolves in the days ahead. Once I clean up the side of my room that I work in, I plan to share how I'm trying to keep things organized. I also have a second room that I'm in the process of working on that I plan to hang my quilts in and perhaps I'll finally have a design wall, I can't wait!

Thanks for visiting!

Nightfall, Reveal Day!

Nightfall, Available Spring 2016

Yesterday was the full reveal day for my Spring 2016 collection, Nightfall! Did you see? I'm so excited to finally be able to share it with all of you!

Last week, Art Gallery Fabrics & I started sharing little sneak peeks, beginning with one of my favorite prints in the collection, Moon Stories.

Nightfall Sneak Peek

Like all things, there's a story attached to this collection and each original sketch. I'm saving those for another day, but today I wanted to share my Moon Stories sketch just to show how little the initial idea changed from pen & paper to printed fabric. I had so much fun creating this collection!
 Moon Stories original sketch

Yesterday we shared each of the twenty prints that make up Nightfall ~ inspired by the beauty of night time, when the sky blue deepens and the sun sets over the horizon, when the moon & owls begin to sing, and the magical stories & creatures of twilight awaken.

Nightfall Full Reveal

I'm so excited to sew with these bunnies, dragonflies, moons, moths, & owls! I wanted to follow Fleet & Flourish with cooler, warmer colors that tell a different story and I'm really happy with how Nightfall turned out! Art Gallery created these fun graphics that you can download here to share to make it easy for you to let your local or favorite online quilt shop know which of the new collections you really want! Below is the Nightfall "I Want" graphic that you can download to share on your social media!

I want Nightfall!

Be sure to hashtag with my Nightfall collection tags if you feel like sharing!

I hope you like this collection as much as I do! I can't wait to share more with you all soon!

Fleet & Flourish Reveal : :

If you follow Art Gallery on Instagram or Facebook you may have seen all the video snippets they shared yesterday of their Fall 2015 fabric collections. Amongst them was my very first full collection, did you see? It was such an exciting moment for me, and with it came ALL the emotions that come from realizing such a BIG dream come true! As I sit here today filled with so much joy, eager to share each print, I have to start by sharing that it's been a really tough year. Losing my Dad set in motion a deep need for me to make some major changes in my life. Positive changes, but difficult ones non the less. Not knowing where to begin with all that I could share, it just feels important for me to mention today that while I worked on this project, I've been working on myself. Changing, healing, growing, understanding, rebuilding myself around the loss I have suffered, into someone hopefully better . It's a never-ending process, I know, and although it's never easy, it's giving me courage, perseverance, and a deeper gratitude for what lies ahead. And I just want to thank you all for being here. For supporting my work, for encouraging me the way you all do. It's such an amazing gift. From the bottom of my heart - thank you!

Yesterday, AGF blogged the beautiful new Fall 2015 LookBook and that means I finally get to share with you all a closer look at Fleet & Flourish!

"A bohemian-meets-romantic edge, featuring an artfully selected range of deep colored florals and soft graphic designs accompanied by delicate lace. From bold pops of damson plum & different shades of graceful white, this collection effortlessly captures a feminine free-spirit."

LookBook -- Fleet & Flourish

The first colorway is Innocency featuring shades of purple - plum, orchid, & red violet with peachy pinks, light blue, and creamy whites.

The second colorway is Tenacity featuring more red tones from a rustic crimson shade to coral & peachy pink paired with my favorite shades of blue. I love the range of colors in this collection in comparison to my smaller, Limited Edition collection, Wild & Free. These colors and prints have me dreaming of a million different quilt ideas and that's so exciting!

Along with these twenty quilting cottons there will be four knits, one voile, a brand new canvas substrate and a surprise (even to me!) wide back cotton measuring 58"-60," I can't wait for all of it!

Substrates

I'm really proud of this collection, and I REALLY hope you all like it! If you'd like to see Fleet & Flourish in your local shop, please make sure to ask for it! It will be shipping in December, so in the meantime I'll be busy making & sharing my Quilt Market projects & plans! I'm so excited and nervous too, I'd love to know what you think?
