The second week of the Sewcial Bee Sampler sew-along has come to an end and that means it's time for a new block! Sharon and I continue to be amazed by the participation and by all of the beautiful blocks that have been shared since we released the first pattern earlier this month. It's never too late to jump in, so feel free to join us at anytime! Keep posting to Instagram with #SewcialBeeSampler and feel free to tag @sharonhollanddesigns and myself @maureencracknell when you do so we can both see and easily keep track of all your wonderful bee posts. We'll continue to try our best to visit with all who join the sew along!
Today's free download is for block #3 Flock! This block includes a fun combination of half-square triangle sizes and once again makes use of both the two-at-a-time and the super fast technique for making eight HSTs at a time. I think it's my favorite block yet, and is definitely one I plan to use again as an entire quilt pattern! I'll be sure to add this new pattern to my Sewcial Bee Sampler Page, so those of you just discovering our bee can find everything you need to begin right in one place. Once again Sharon is sharing super helpful, extra step by step images on her blog today, in addition to the pattern information illustrated and written in the download material!
I'm making TWO Sewcial Bee Sampler quilts, and therefore two of each block, but have just one finished to share today! This block is for the first sampler I started that includes prints from all of my Art Gallery Fabrics collections together for a very scrappy look, paired with AGF linen and denim. This first Flock block includes my Nightfall moon phase print Lunation Bright and Garden Dreamer prints Twinklestar Blue and Triangular Reflection with AGF's Soft Sand Linen!
I love this combination of fabric prints and colors so much, it inspired me to start a new pillow that I hope to finish today to share soon!
I can't wait to see the Flock blocks you'll make this week! Don't forget to visit Sharon's blog to see her beautiful Bountiful version. She'll be hosting this week's Sewcial Bee Giveaway Friday for our sponsor Color Girl Quilts -- I'll be back Friday to share those details!
I am not only enjoying this sew-along on IG but also the introduction to your line of fabrics - I love them all. :)

ReplyDeleteCould you put hst dimensions? So if I cut a bit big and trim I have the size. For example after sewing and cutting apart you note one has 8 small hst. Should these be 2 1/2? Or 2 3/8 or ? Thanks.
