A QAYG Tote in Denim : :

Last week I shared a peek of a new quilt as you go project I dreamt up while working on my latest Herringbone pillow using Art Gallery Fabrics' beautiful quality denims. I didn't know then that Fat Quarter Shop was having a special Denim Week, beginning today on their blog featuring a wonderful lineup of AGF denim-based projects, inspiration, sale, and giveaway!! Be sure to stop by the Jolly Jabber blog for all the details if you'd like to join in! My own denim project began with a heaping pile of solid smooth denim scraps leftover from all of my Nightfall Quilt Market sewing and a new bundle of gorgeous Denim Prints!

Back when I started created my Quick Quilt As You Go Craftsy class I began working on bag sketches that would work well for utilizing my qayg method. It didn't take long for me to design several different bag styles to try. In the end those plans were set aside and eventually forgotten about when we decided on the final group of projects for my class, until last week when I remembered them while making my new pillow. I'm happy to report that I LOVED making this bag! Even better, I absolutely love the way it turned out!

You may have already seen it, since I eagerly shared it both on my Instagram and Facebook immediately after finishing it up. Still, I think it deserves a blog post!

I'm happy to share that I took notes throughout it's making and I plan to offer as a pattern soon! I already started a second bag just to make sure I get it right before typing it up. I hope you love it as much as I do!!

  5. Great looking bag! I would love to make that. I'm just finishing a herringbone quilt from your Craftsy class. The top is finished, just have to add the back. Question on the denim ... this may be a stupid question, but no one around here carries it and I would like to know if this is an actual denim weight or does it just look like denim.

    1. There are several different weights to Art Gallery's new denim, what I used here is lightweight, comparable to their regular quilting cottons. It has a beautiful hand and drape!

  9. Love this bag, the Denim fabrics are so pretty. I am enrollled in your Craftsy class but have only made two things. Will this be in the Craftsy class or here on your blog? I always look forward to seeing your new creations because they are always so pretty. You are one amazing and talented seamstress.

  10. Hi Maureen, I really love the bag. I also just signed up for your Craftsy class and looked immediately to find out what brand and type of super thin batting you have in your photo about the bag on this blog. Question: where do you buy that particular Pellon batting--in a store or online? I have looked at Pellon batting in our only store in my town, but it's not that real thin one plus it's a blend. Thanks, Katie S.

    1. It's called Nature's Touch 100% Cotton Batting by Pellon. I purchase mine from JO-Ann Fabrics in store. Thanks for signing up for the class!! :)

  15. The only downside is that there are so many good promotional products, & it is difficult to decide which ones to give away. Party favor goodie bags
