A Scrappy Grocery Tote : :

Scrappy Grocery Tote

Since Fall Quilt Market I've been looking forward to the release of April Rhodes' new collection Wanderer. Now that they're here I just can't get enough of these gorgeous fabrics! Last week I shared a glimpse of the quilt I've been working on as part of her Wanderer fabric tour, and yesterday I turned my lovely heap of Wanderer and Wild & Free fabric scraps into a new grocery tote!

Wanderer and Wild & Free

I love seeing these two collections together!

Sparkle!

It's a simple quilted bag, soft but sturdy enough for how I plan to use it. While I don't favor myself to be much of a bag maker, I do enjoy whipping up an easy bag like this one! Finding such a purposeful use for scraps makes me very happy!

For the bag body I used one of my favorite methods quilt as you go, sewing each piece of fabric to scrap pieces of batting at random. The straps and little pocket were densely straight line quilted and ended up being my favorite parts of this quick bag project. I do think for my next tote bag experiment I'll take the time to quilt each piece!

Overall I'm feeling pretty pleased today with the prettiness and purposefulness of yesterday's sewing time. Hooray!

    1. I haven't! I would love to have canvas on hand for the bottom of my totes. I think they'd be so much sturdier! I might have to stash some!!
