Follow the Arrow Quilt : :

Follow the Arrow QuiltYesterday as the snow came down, Kevin and I took a quick walk to the park by our house to take some photos of my finished Follow the Arrow Quilt. Taking them down by the water was his idea, it was absolutely brilliant and so pretty & peaceful!

This makes my second quilt finish for this year! Hooray to finally feeling back on track!

This one was super fun to make, too, using lots and lots of flying geese units in the same measurements as I share in my Soaring High quilt pattern for Cloud9 Fabrics and my Blogger's Choice bundle for the Fat Quarter Shop

Flying Geese Quilt Top

Once finished, I had decided to send my quilt top out to Melissa of Sew Shabby Quilting to work her long arm quilting magic! As usual, she did such a beautiful job! Each and every little piece of my quilt was quilted with the most amazing detail! I'm so in love with Melissa's work!!

It's bound using the same Minimalista Optical in Noir print that I recently chose to finish off my Diamond Zig Zag Quilt, it was just too perfect not to use again!

Bound in Optical Noir

For the back I chose a luscious AGF Voile, the Millefiori print in Cream. Melissa was able to blend the quilting threads in perfectly and the feel is out of this world amazing! This was my first time using voile as a backing and I. Am. Sold!

Backed in AGF Voile!

It all was so gorgeous against the snow!!

Tomorrow I'll be back to share more of Melissa's work, along with a very special gift certificate Giveaway for her long arm quilting service! Be sure to stop back and to have yourself a wonderful Monday!!

    1. We were actually standing on ice, it was pretty intense, but so pretty! The below zero temps we've had this winter has everything frozen inches thick!

  9. Beautiful quilt. I need to make this as my geese leave a lot to be desired. I would have them perfected by the time I finished!

  10. I love flying geese, and they two quilts you have done have "inspired" to get all my blocks out and finish the darn top!!! Question - you said you backed this with voile - the sheery type of cotton - that is great for summer wear?

    1. Thank you!! Yes, voile is a wonderful substrate for garment sewing, but can be used for quilting too! This is the third quilt I have made that included voile in either the piecing and now as a backing. I have lots of voile and hope to make an entire voile quilt for Summer. I think the soft and light feel would be the perfect thing for our bed during the hot months!
