After a busy and wonderful weekend, July has greeted us with a very rainy and rather dark start to this new week. The perfect kind of weather for sewing, yes, but instead I'm waiting with enthusiasm for this rain to go away so that we can go out and take the photos of my newly finished Zig Zag Quilt! Tutorial soon, thank you SO much for asking!!
How about you, are you getting any sewing in these days?
We have been getting rain on and off for weeks and it is still coming. At least the garden is doing well, nothing like fresh rain water to make things grow. Good time to do some machine quilting.

Yes, our extended forecast looks like lots and lots of rain is coming! Hopefully I'll get some extra sewing in before we leave for our vacation! ;)
DeleteI love using variegated threads! It has been so hot, that doing much of anything takes twice as much effort, but I have been sewing and quilting :-)
ReplyDeleteThe back of this quilt is where you can really see well all the pretty aqua threads, I'm definitely sold on the variegated threads!
DeleteYour binding looks so nice and neat! Do you have a tutorial for your machine binding?
ReplyDeleteI've been using Allison's method found here -- http://www.cluckclucksew.com/2013/01/machine-binding-tutorial.html
DeleteI've tried our several machine binding tutorial now and this is definitely my personal favorite!
I'm too busy swooning over your perfectly turned corners to think about my sewing list :)
ReplyDeleteWe had a day full of rain yesterday too! And I hear the thunder in the background now. Love the colors of this quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove your fabric choices! I'm spending my rainy-Monday cutting fabric :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Day!

I love the peek of this quilt Maureen. can't wait to see the whole thing. I see some embroidery too!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it! And I love the aqua colored thread!
ReplyDeleteI'm so tired of the rain and humidity. I started working on the organizing of my sewing room this weekend. I'm making mini bolts of fabric so I can see what I have!
ReplyDeleteLove the thread you chose for quilting - and you always have perfect mitered corners. Anxious to see the finished project. Hope the sun shines in your area soon.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks so perfect! I love the aqua thread you chose! I have mixed feelings about the rain. Its lovely, and I look forward to it because "I'm going to get so much done" but then its seems to affect my drive, and I get a little dreary too. That's been its effect today, anyway. So silly! I can't wait to see more pictures of the finished quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt. Our weather here has been very rainy for the past several weeks. Kinda getting sick of so much rain all the time.
ReplyDeleteYour binding is awesome. Mine never looks so crisp. As for the weather, it's been so hot here that I can't even get motivated to sew. I'd love some rain this week!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your zig zag (aka Chevron??) quilt! I've been wanting to make one for a while but can't get my head wrapped around the "up's and down's" of the layout...haha. I'll be waiting for your tutorial :)
ReplyDeleteBTW...do you like your Oliso iron?? I'm so disgusted with my Rowenta...it leaks all the time...AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
Look at those perfectly mitered corners. I aspire to that someday. I will just have to keep on learning and making more quilts. Maybe it will happen someday. (Ohhhh, I see everyone else is commenting on your corners, too. You are the Corner Queen :)
ReplyDeleteSame here. Lots of rain, a good amount of sewing, but no photos!
ReplyDeleteSend the rain west! Binding you asked on Facebook? I sew it on then turn it over to handstitch it down. Love to do the hand work - but I finally figured out how to turn in over and stitch it down with the machine. Much quicker and just as nice.
ReplyDeleteWe've had alot of rain here too and that has caused more flooding. Love what I'm seeing of the quilt so far!!
ReplyDeleteIt's unseasonably hot up here in the Seattle area -- high 80s. This is rare from what I gather. With no AC in our apartment (most apartments don't have AC -- quite common), I've been taking it easy.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm quilting a very traditional bear paw quilt for my girls' grampie, who was recently diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. I really want to get this done ASAP. So far I'm very pleased with how it's turning out.
Slow and steady. Lots of water, and a good fan to keep me cool as I stitch away.
Love what you're working on! I really need to try the QAYG method. I just can't get the visual "hang" of it. Need someone to hold my hand for that.
Your quilt is looking beautiful. I so love that fabric collection. We have no rain, it was 112 here today in Lewiston Idaho, yikes!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful week here in central Missouri, 76 today :) I finished up 2 quilt tops and pieced a back together. Tomorrow I hope to get another top cut out and 2 more finished piecing. Getting ready to paint 3 rooms for a lady, so I'm trying to cacth up. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been so very hot here (120+ weather) that I've been able to stay inside and catch up on my sewing... The Skill Builder BOM, the Sugar Block Club and the Tula City Sampler 100 blocks. I've been enjoying the excuse to stay inside and sew!
ReplyDeleteI don't know when I have been so in love with a fabric line! Can not wait to see the full quilt! Would love to know the dimensions of your cut quilt pieces. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteWe sing that song all summer here ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love all the aqua colored fabrics. Will keep entering but never have won a thing in my life.
ReplyDeleteit has been very very very hot here! im kinda wishing for some rain!
