This morning I had Birthday Crown orders to finish up and an appointment, and to tell the truth I am completely out of my regular old routine. I need to figure out a new one now that the puppy is here and I'm getting up several times during the night. After just one week, I went from someone who stays up to on average 1am, to someone who can't keep their eyes open after 10pm! After sharing my wip evaluation post and reading all your comments and encouragement, I've deciding to let the pressure I was feeling go, to enjoy everything including this new pace, which just so happens to be a slow pace right now. Besides, there really is no point in rushing quickly into a new routine anyways. The kids finish up school in a little over a week, and then we'll all find a new groove together!

I can't believe how quickly May is going by! How about you? I love Spring and really wish it was a longer season here. I'm trying to freshen up the living room a little before Summer. I brought in some Forsythia for the mantel, I love the bright yellow! But when the temperature dropped and I was completely exhausted early last week, my living room sewing plans were delayed when I decided to make myself some gluten free cookies, recipe here, for breakfast. I'm sharing because they really were the best GF cookies I've made and everyone loved them! Now I'm planning to make an ottoman slipcover for Lily's new favorite corner of the living room. Penelope doesn't love the hardwood, she just slips all over the place, so Lily has taken retreat there. I picked out this gorgeous Portfolio Capparis print in Sunshine. I love it so much!! Once I finish my little home decor diy project, I plan to host a special giveaway sponsored by OFS right here!

Penelope is doing great! We had just a couple accidents last week, which were contained to her kennel, which kind of threw us, especially since she made them shortly after coming in from outside?  I keep referring to the comments you all left for us in my post introducing Penny for guidance! You guys really are the best!!

This week I'm having a sale in my etsy for 20% off any crown or felt purchase. Just use coupon code Spring20 at checkout.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! And a BIG thanks in advance to those of you who stop by my shop this week!  Maureen

  1. You sure have a lovely home. Your kitty and pup are so cute. I remember those days of getting up with my pups.....smile.

I was also looking at the party hats. My granddaughter is named Isla......you don't see that name very often.

  2. I thought I would never sew again with the addition of our puppy. He was sooo time consuming. I really loved it when he started learning commands so I felt like I could communicate with him better. It will get easier! And having the extra help once the kids are home will be welcome I'm sure :)

As for accidents in the kennel...make sure it's small enough. You can divide it by placing a box in there to take up space if it's too big. Also, is she definitely going when she's outside? I know it's a pain, but wait until she does her business out there before bringing her in. Most likely, she hasn't finished if she's going as soon as she's coming in. Is it more in the mornings? Sometimes after a long snooze it takes a couple pees before they are empty. I make my pup walk over his potty area a second time after he's gone once to make sure he's empty as he usually goes twice in the mornings. Just a thought. Those were the usual accident culprits in our house.

  7. Can I just say we are still enjoying the crowns you made for the girls last year?!? We pulled them out yesterday in honor of my little one's second birthday. They are still as beautiful as when you first made them. Thanks for being part of our birthday ritual, Maureen.

  10. When I've been outside in the cold, I always have to pee just as soon as I come into the warm house. Just sayin'.

  14. Fantastic photos, Maureen! The fabric is so pretty in those colors. I've been having a hard time finding a routine that works and I don't have any distractions! Well, maybe the fact that it's springtime is a distraction, lol!!

  15. Your blog, home, and work are lovely! In the last picture, I love the floral fabric of the quilt that Penny is in - do you know what designer that is? Thanks!

    1. It's a folksy flannel by Anna Maria Horner. I just did a quick etsy search and found it here -- https://www.etsy.com/listing/57662589/anna-maria-horner-folksy-flannel?ref=shop_home_active&ga_search_query=flannel

  19. Your house is beautiful. Puppies take time but they get it after a while and you will get sleep.

I will have to try those cookies. Most cookies I have tried seem to be dry.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
