Last night I had decided on a solid plan for my Chicopee Triangles. After a few more blocks and finally settling on a dark grey sashing in this Pure Element Moonstone Solid, I thought I'd spend today whipping up a new quilt top, easy!
Well, here I am right now!
Color Blocking + Chicopee! What do you think ?
Thanks so much for the help, in advance!! You guys are THE BEST!! ♥, Maureen
I love it! I think it totally works!
ReplyDeleteI really like that aqua/turquoise. Gives a good pop to keep the eye moving across the design.
ReplyDeleteI love the aqua & the mustard ones best! :)
ReplyDeleteThose two really brighten up, don't they?!
DeleteI love the gold/mustard or aqua/turqoise! To me, the gray is too dark, and the white, too white! :-) LOVE the Chicopee triangles!
ReplyDeleteAqua is my vote, to me it just makes everything else pop!
ReplyDeletelove all the colors.. I really like the gray with it too~ Awesome job on the project! It's going to be beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way all the colors work together and with the fabric... why not have a little fun and mix up your shashing and use them all?!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great w/the color blocking and all the colors! Looking forward to seeing it finished.
ReplyDeleteI would do the gray with an aqua back, or binding.
ReplyDeleteThat was my exact original plan, which I think would be lovely, but I'm in the mood for something a little more fun and bright today. Hopefully I won't regret it!! :)
Deletelove the gray...is there a pattern available?
ReplyDeleteYeah I like the gray best too, makes the prints pop out but is soothing too...love the idea of an aqua or mustard binding! Can't wait to see this sewn up.

ReplyDeleteIt's gonna be awesome:)
ReplyDeleteLove what you are doing! Are you going to use all the different backgrounds as sashing? It looks really cool that way! Completely modern and different from the original quilt :)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I'm thinking?! Right now I'm making all my blocks and reading everyone's input before I completely decide. :)
DeleteI love the gray as it brings out all of the different colors. I think the turquoise would look fantastic for the binding to really set it all off.
ReplyDeleteI think the aqua, mustard and gray look so wonderful. Could you use all three?
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors! I think it would make it really modern to have blocked sections of sashing colors...just like they're laid out. I'm not usually a mustard/yellow fan, but with that fabric line it really brings some brightness! Absolutely love the aqua!
ReplyDeleteI like the aquat, mustard and gray. I'm not so fond of the white. If you want to do the color blocking, do you have an orangey-red that would work well with the beautiful chicopee colors to replace the white?
ReplyDeletewhy make a choice when you don't have to? love it! that mustard color is lovely....(runs off to buy mustard kona....)
ReplyDeleteIt's actually AGF's Pure Element Empire Yellow Solid! I love it!!
DeleteI do prefer the colours and not the white if that helps!
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks! I really like the way the gray sets them off, but I also like the idea of using all of them
ReplyDeleteLovin' the triangles. The solids you chose compliment the Chicopee fabrics beautifully!! You have the artist's eye.
ReplyDeleteI love the grey and think it would be cool with a few pops of the aqua and yellow. Personally I would use only the grey and bind in the aqua (but I'm not very adventurous). Not a big fan of the white. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI would usually pick gray, but I love the aqua and the mustard. I think if I had to pick one color for front I would say the aqua for sashing, mustard for binding and gray for the back. But you could use any of those colors for any part of the quilt and it would look great. Love the triangle!
ReplyDeleteI love the aqua and mustard colors best. But if you used the grey, aqua and mustard in your sashing I think it would be beautiful. The white is to stark and I'm not liking it. Can't wait to see the finished project.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be such a lovely quilt - color block awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. I love those colors and I adore chicopee....
ReplyDeleteI vote for the aqua .... it does make things pop. The white is too stark, the yellow looks muddy. The charcoal is VERY nice .... it goes in the sashing! :-)
ReplyDeleteAqua and mustard! I say go for the unexpected! They really make the reds pop.
ReplyDeleteI love it but would leave out the white too.
ReplyDeleteLoving the colour blocking approach, that is with the whole mixture of colours :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique idea! Go for it, I think it will look great!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI love the aqua! Makes it pop! As usual this is going to be a lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have the Chicopee fat quarters and lots of solids. Thanks for the idea! Now I like the yellow best, but I'm with the others in using all three colors! Did you make up that pattern or did you buy it? I would love to use my Chicopee fabric and do the same thing, if you don't mind.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind at all! I did make it up and have changed directions several times as I've been making this quilt. It looks so different now -- lots of solids made their way into the mix!! :)
DeleteIt will be beautiful no matter what you choose! I love all the colors so I'm no help at all!
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me copy you. Will you give instructions on how you made it, please? It is very eye catching. Thank you, Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI think it is really great and this was a terrific idea. I can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteLove these blocks Maureen ~ like the grey background the best. It doesn't take away from the blocks. You could use the mustard on the back and the aqua for the binding ~
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me!
Great colours!
ReplyDeleteLove the color block idea. It draws in more colors and steps outside the normal one-color sashing.
ReplyDeleteI think I like them all but the white.
ReplyDeleteI think they all look gorgeous! Could you use a combination of all of them? And block them like they are in your layout?
