I have good news! We should be HOME OWNERS on Friday!! So, I thought today I would share some of the inspiration I've been gathering for my little girls' room. Her room is first on my mind, even before my sewing room, because it really is the only room that needs some major love. It's currently a den/office space, with masculine dark painted walls and a library themed wallpaper. It's also a rather small space, so we're going to have to be creative with storage. It's going to take some time for these dreamy plans and projects to be realized -- but it's so fun to imagine it all! Want to see?
First, I fell in love with this Enchanted Forest Mural a couple of years ago and it's first on our list of major wants! Thank goodness it's still available. I still need to measure the wall we have in mind for this to go on, and make sure it will fit properly, without us having to trim away half of it, etc... If it simply won't work for any reason, then I'm considering a Mama-made mural??? I know she's love that more, but just the idea of it sort of stresses me out. Not because I don't love to paint, I do! But because it's Thanksgiving, then two December birthdays, then Christmas...time is not my friend this time of year and my patience is officially shot!
Isn't it pretty....
My daughter really wants a little hide-out, since her brothers will have one, and I think one of these canopy style play tents would be really sweet. This one is from the Land of Nod. I'm not sure if the floral will be right, and I like this solid, smoky purple fabric one, as well. Of course, I would LOVE to make one, too?!
The overall color scheme we have in mind are peachy coral pinks, buttery yellow, and smoky purples, pinks, blues, whites, & grays. She has a little Blabla collection and these Colette the Cat dolls are the perfect colors.
How cool is this Unicorn by Désaccord?! And, those hanging fabric stars!
I've also pinned a bunch of smart and simple storage ideas and lots of other inspirational images here and here. This post was like a commercial today, but that's just because I haven't actually bought or made anything yet. Of course, my most grand plans will be ALL the MAKING!! I would love for you to share any pins, links, ideas you might have, too??
I can't wait to share how our first home comes together -- I hope you want to see!! ♥ Maureen

Hi Maureen, time to tell you how much I enjoy your Pinterest Pins. You find some fabulous stuff (love the unicorn!), and you are obviously wonderfully creative yourself. As a young Mum I was busily creative too, but perhaps not as good as you. As a granny and a full time librarian, I have less time to do my craft work, and also have a bit of arthritis in my hands, so can work for shorter periods. However, I love to see what you have pinned and enjoy your passionate approach to your work and family life. Keep up the good work and enjoy your new home.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!! So happy that you've finally got good news on the home front!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have some grandly awesome plans, too…!
Yay!!! I am so happy for you and your family! And based upon the description and photos of what you want to include in your daughter's room, I just might want to move it, too :) Looks like it's going to be amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOh you are going to have so much fun being creative :)
ReplyDeleteIf the mural doesn't work, there are a lot of places on Etsy that sell decals (removable, so when your daughter grows and wants to change things.....) Then you can do some hand painting around them to personalize :)
Congrats on the house purchase :)
Have a lovely Wednesday, cheers, T. :)
Oh if only my 16 year old girl was little again, you have some amazing ideas there.

Where I used to live I had a couple of rooms that had no closet, and we just bought closets for the room. They were kind of ugly in one of the rooms, it was metal, but my young son enjoyed that because he was able to stick his abc letters to it and learn his abc's LOL. I spray painted it to match the room instead of the gun metal gray that it was originally YUCK! They most certainly have them in many other lovely colors and options these days!! I love all of your choices for the room with the exception of the unicorn head sticking out of the wall.. that one kinda freaks me out and would give me nightmares. Love the stars though :)
ReplyDeleteI wondered about that when I first saw the unicorn, but Haila loves it. :) Carl Akeley (you could Wikipedia him :) was my relative, so I have taxidermy in my blood! :) Although, I much prefer the faux and plush variety!!
DeleteCongratulations! I'm looking forward to seeing your creativity come to life in your new home. We are also in the process of buying & moving - ripping out the kitchen and bath this weekend! Isn't it a fun process, making things new again? Off to follow your Pinboards...
ReplyDeleteReally excited for you all! Let the fun of decorating a new house begin! Looking forward to all your new inspiring ideas that will come from your new space. Change is as good as a holiday (or so they say!) wish I could come help!
