Felt Sewing : :

Happy Monday! I haven't been doing too much sewing this last week. I'm still fighting off this terrible cold, and with our house closing happening next week, I have been so busy packing and planning. It came so quickly and I still have so much to do! Of course I'm saving my sewing room for last!

Today I'm finishing up the last of my etsy orders before Hurricane Sandy reaches our region of Pennsylvania. The word is that a power outage is "likely," so if you don't hear from me for a few days, you know why! How are things where you live??

Within the last week or so I received order requests for a couple custom handmade items of mine found via Pinterest. The first one for a Paper Doll Pillow. This is one of the first pillows I made/designed, and is from way back in October of 2010! I'll  have pictures of some new ones to share here soon!

And, another order was for a House Pillow similar to this one that I made almost one year ago today!! I LOVE making these, they are so fun but rather time consuming to make, too. I'll have pictures of my new one to share soon, as well!

Of course I continue to be quite the Birthday Crown factory! I'm putting in a large felt order this week to prepare for lots of holiday making and orders!

I wish you all a wonderful, healthy, and safe new week! Maureen

  2. I definitely did a double take when I saw "Elise" on one of your birthday crowns. It isn't too often that I find another person in the world with my name :) Did you have success with your Halloween costume making or did your cold of death keep you from being able to work? I think I read an owl might be in the works? Hope you all stay safe during the storm! I'll be thinking about you guys!

    1. Very little progress was made on it, unfortunately! Once Trick or Treating was rescheduled here for November 3rd, I was so grateful and relieved for the extra few days to get it finished, and let myself off the hook a little. It's priority #1 once I get my orders all finished!! The boys should hopefully be in today's mail!!

  3. I love to see your creativity!
I live in Nebraska, so no hurricanes for us here, supposed to be a beautiful week with temps in the 60's.
We will pray that you all stay safe with no damage.

  7. That house pillow us THE most ridiculously cute thing I've seen! I really want one for my house :)
We're hunkering down for the storm, too. I'm thinking I'll get some good hand quilting time if/when we lose our power!
    Stay safe!

  8. I live in Holland and here we never have hurricanes. There's always (much) wind and rain and over the past few years we had very poor summers and long, long winters. I hope the hurricane will not strike to hard on you guys!!
Get well soon and stay safe!!!

    1. Did the schools let you out early then? I just got back from taking Haila to the Dentist, so I asked the office woman at the school if they had any word on possible cancellations and they said, Nope! You stay safe, too!!!

  10. Adorable projects! Love the house pillow.
And it is no surprise your crowns are in demand -- they are SO cute!!

All is high and dry here on the Midwestern prairie. The wind is blowing (as always) but nothing like the 90mph winds that are threatening the East Coast. Three of my kids are in the path of Sandy (NYC, DC and NH), so I've been praying overtime. Thankfully, my two youngest are off work. Good luck with the move.

  11. Such sweet projects! I do love the house pillow. We're being pounded with wind and rain and it's not even the worst yet. At least we still have power for now.

  12. Your pillows are wonderful They really have personality!

My family is in Pennsylvania, near Philly. Here I am in the Southwest, almost 80 degrees, not a breath of wind. As I say a special prayer for my family I will also put in a few words for you and yours.

  13. Same to you Sandy! They announced that school is canceled for tomorrow when I picked up the kiddos. We're prepared for a day of drawing tomorrow and will be baking lots of cookies tonight!

You should try to sew with felt sometime, I absolutely LOVE it, and plan to sell the felt I use very soon!!
