A Pretty Pillow & Stash : :

pretty lillybelle bow pillow

Are those fabrics distracting?? Don't worry...there's lots more below, but first I want to share my newest pillow!!

On a rainy day a couple weeks ago, I started thinking ahead to the holidays, with an idea for a new pillow design, and the need to make something bright and warm and pretty! I reached for my favorite LillyBelle print, Garden Rocket in Ruby, and my favorite shade of yellow, with a little pop of hot pink, and got to work!

LillyBelle Bow Pillow

I finished it with a Modernology print, Mod Vines in Raspberry, and I just love this beautiful jewel-tone pink. Overall, I think and hope my pillow came out bright & warm and pretty & cheery! I've added it to my etsy and am crossing my fingers that it will find a home soon!

NOW LETS TALK FABRIC!!

Pretty Bow Pillow

Today, I finally plan to separate and photograph all that I've stashed these last several weeks! For the record, this is way more than I usually buy in months and months....and months!! With my dream of sewing full-time beginning and so many amazing collections due out ALL at the exact same time, what's up with that?? I just felt like I had no choice!! It was a business investment, right?!

Woah!!! So much goodness!

I know you've been stashing or saving for that new fabric collection(s), too -- please do share!! I'd love to know what your current favorite is??

  3. I'm so jealous of your fabrics! It seems that everyone that has up pictures of their stash has them organized by color...do you think that is better than being organized by collection? I have quite a bit of fabric myself and am looking of the best way to store it :)

    1. I'm really liking them organized by color, but they're not all like that. Most of my fat quarters are in the white shelf above, but I also have many still together by collection. I will always keep all my Art Gallery Fabrics and Anna Maria Horner's together, they just all coordinate so well together. And, I like to have what's new together on a shelf for a while, too, before they get tucked away.

I just picked up an amazing cabinet over the holiday weekend, that will be large enough to hold everything!! Right now I have my Pyrex in there, but I plan to take a photo today while I'm photographing my new fabrics. I can't wait to see all my fabrics together in this piece -- it's awesome!!

  5. You did it again, made me smile this morning. I have a FQ of Garden Rocket Ruby and have been holding onto it for something special. My daughter last weekend kept holding it up, saying, "could you make a headband out of this" - that became a mom's - jeez, don't know how to make them:) (especially with my only fq of that:) She loves that collection, so I can see a bag with matching headband coming for Christmas.

    Your listings look wonderful!!!!!!

  6. Love the pillow ~ so romantic and all my favorite colors too.
I just got Bella FQ set from Fabricworm (I pre-ordered and totally forgot about it) so it was a complete surprise when I got it. Just love the prints and it really goes well with her last line of fabrics.
I've got a stash that's huge for me ~ my friends laugh at me ~ their stashes are really huge. I've got one friend who has a wall to wall, ceiling to floor bookcase and it's filled to the brim with all sorts of fabrics! I keep telling myself I won't buy anymore and then a lovely line comes out and I can't help myself.

  7. Such a pretty pillow. Definitely bright and cheery.

I'm trying to resist stashing Nursery Versey but I think I'll end up breaking down and getting some (it's a little pricey for me--I tend to use remnants and funky clearance stuff). I'm hoping to score it on a sale so I can justify buying it without having a use in mind. (I'm trying to limit buying right now since I need to get my fabric stash organized--it's just in a pile on my table right now).

  13. Oh my that pillow is great. I think I know what I'm going to do with some of my leftover Summerlove now!

I saved up and waited for Indie to come out --- just got my bundle of half yards the other day. SO excited.

  14. Love your stash. Some day I'll get mine organized like that, I hope!

  15. I want some Chicopee. I really want some Hope Valley (I started quilting too late), and I briefly considered trying to put the collection together from here and there, but it seems too difficult and I would have to get too many yard cuts. (teardrop)

  16. Love the design of that cushion with the bow on it :o)

As for fabrics, Bella, Indie and Madrona Road leapt into my cart recently (in fat quarter bundles) and I rather like the new Echino, however I'll have to wait til after my holiday for that :oD

  17. Love your pillow!

I am diligently working on reducing my stash! Can you believe that? When I moved from Michigan to New Hampshire in 2006, my sewing/quilting room was packed up and stored. Finally, my new sewing room was done this Spring and I got to unpack everything. It was like Christmas. I had 12 huge tubs full of fabric to re-discover. I decided that before I bought any more fabric, I would use up what I had. It's now six months later and I'm happy to say that my projects have made a slight dent.

Don't get my wrong...I am absolutely drooling over the new fabrics that are coming out and would love to get my hands on some of them. I wonder how long I will hold out???

I'm SO glad that you are back on a daily basis. I missed you.

  18. Oooh, if only I could make an investment like that and put it down as a business investment, too. Serious stash envy. :)

  19. What a gorgeous stash you have going there, Maureen! There are so many lines I'm loving right now: Field Study, Indie, Chicopee, Out to Sea. They're all so different, but I love that they each have their own personality, you know?

  20. Such a gorgeous pillow!!! Gosh there are a few lines I've seen that I really want, but I know I'd have no space to actually put them in if I bought them It amazes me still how much they can fit into a flat pack envelope. When you refold it it seems to expand.
I love the new Lotta line and those chicopee prints are lush! I've seen some gorgeous bundles on pink castle I really want, to help improve the colours in my stash. I need some basic prints too. Maybe I'll buy them and keep them in the envelopes for a while till I have space for them.
I need to do a clearout first to make room =D

  21. I don't know if I love the pillow or the stash more! That's fabulous.

  22. How can you part with that gorgeous pillow?!! If my stash looked like that, I would never leave my sewing room! I would love to get my hands on Sugar Hill or Barefoot Roses by Tanya Whelan and Flower Sugar from Lecien Fabrics.

  23. That pillow is gorgeous!!! Unfortunately, I don't have space for a huge stash of fabrics as I'm already storing what appear to be a lifetime's worth of beads (the hazards of running a jewelry business, LOL). But if I had the space, I would be madly stocking up on Tanya Whelan's fabrics and anything by French General. :)

  24. Yes, it would have been tough to be on a fabric ban this summer... I have 'treated' myself a little too much this year, I don't have much of a stash, but it is certainly building...

  25. Yes! A Pretty pillow and stash is right! =D

  26. Lovely pillow and gorgeous stash... I'm mad for the new Yuwa prints: retro dots, the new Suzuko Koseki, the new Atsuko Matsuyama...

  27. Lovely pillow. And that stash? I bow down before you. I thought MY stash was huge (I wish it had as many lovely prints as yours does!).I'v got some Ghastlies, some Libety Tana Lawn, some Seven Seas Organic, some Kona Solids and a few others lately. (And of all I've bought, I've only used some of the Liberty.)

  30. How fun I love it! The colors are great! :)

  31. What a lovely way to showcase a fabulous print! I particulary like that the yellow is a little ochre, not to too sunny, and that makes the whole pillow look so much more interesting, and sophisticated :)
