Sorry for my absence yesterday. The truth is I haven't been feeling that well since my trip to Atlanta. I had a great time, but I think the heat down there and the stress of leaving home did a real number on my autoimmune skin problems. I didn't want to rain on our amazing West Elm parade, but I'm back from another trip to the doctors and feeling pretty blah about the whole thing. Autoimmune Disease stinks!! There's just no other way to say it!
Well, it's a good thing for happy fabric mail and news! Let's focus on these beauties for today instead, k?!!
So, have you seen Indie?! I shared a peek in my last post and that same day I received a delivery of a gorgeous stack to play with! I am completely in love!! Making those West Elm inspired pillows, and a few other things with this collection, are tops on my sewing list!
Next is Simply Color by V and Co from Southern Fabrics! This is my very first layer cake and I have another picnic quilt in mind for this collection! The colors and prints are fabulous!! 42 10" squares all ready for easy patchwork, sounds like a good project to me!
Cocoon is a collection I have had my eye on for awhile now. I've had this little charm square hanging as inspiration, um...since May!
Yes, it was definitely time for me to bring this collection home and Sprightly fabrics has it all on sale!
I plan to do some serious fussy cutting and may need more than just fat quarters of my favorite prints!
And finally, some wonderful and exciting news! I did an interview a few months back with Simply Handmade Magazine and it's now available!
My mom and I stopped in at Joann's yesterday to get a few supplies for those chevron pillows and as we were checking out...there it was! I can't describe how exciting it was for me to see, I may have done something similar to this (<-- be sure to watch!) on our way out to the car!
Yes, now I feel better!

Oh, thank you!! We are so excited!! Yeah, I just can't seem to catch a break in the health department! Good thing I have so many other blessings to focus on and to keep me motivated! I really shouldn't be complaining!
DeleteI have an auto immune disorder too, our record heat wave doesn't help me either - I have no energy. I am a bit jealous of those beautiful fabrics ;)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the book segment! Can't wait to see it. :)
ReplyDeleteAutoimmune diseases suck big time. Almost everyone in my family has some form of it. Love the fabric, so pretty!!!! Oh, the video was so great. It made me want to start dance walking. Congrats on the magazine ... : )
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful AND exciting!! Congrats! =D
ReplyDeleteMaureen that is awesome I so rarely click on a video link but that is the best, made me laugh out laugh and get up and dance! It has brightened my day (and the fact that it is nearly bedtime for the little ones!).
ReplyDeleteHahaha that is too funny! I will be dance walking everywhere from now on!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the publication :)
Loving fabric haul!
Really hope you get to feeling better soon xxx
Autoimmune diseases are the pits. My husband has one and it has a tremendous impact on all areas of his life.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics.
Going to go to the bookstore and look for this magazine. Looking forward to reading the article.
Congrats Maureen! I'm so proud of you!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you haven't been feeling well - we have a lot of autoimmune disease in my family and I feel for you! It's so frustrating! But congrats on the magazine AND the beautiful fabric - I can't wait to see what you make with it, you're always so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteFantastic news about the interview! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteLovely fabrics, too. Fabric mail makes me so happy, and it tends to come in bunches for some reason lol!
So sorry you're not feeling so great but so glad you had that interview published. And that video? What a hoot! You started my day with a good laugh! :)
ReplyDeleteDo the Dance Girl !!! I have to get a copy.. I brag on you all the time on these blogs.. I have been yucky for a week now with my autoimmune diseases, I am at the infusion center today, so it will help. But I tried to focus on completing projects. Good news for me, a lady from the Fort Worth Modern Quilt Guild gave me a sewing machine, I am so excited, it has a table too, Its an older metal Singer, but I had borrowed one to work on.. Still trying to work on finding a good Iron, this Shark I bought isnt it. I saw on You Tube from the Mountain Co, she was using one that was on a stand and it stays hot that way. Take Care..
ReplyDeleteoh how i love indie! i want the whole line... my birthday is coming up... i know what i am going to ask for. ;) sorry you have been feeling poorly, i wish i could bring you a "safe" dinner of tortilla chips, homemade salsa and guacamole. i would make myself sick eating them with you! i am going to go buy that magazine! yay!!! love ya!
ReplyDeleteThose are some seriously gorgeous stacks. At first I didn't stash any fabric, and now I have graduated to buying "stash" fabrics (tone on tones and color plus whites and whatnot). Maybe someday I will sew enough to be able to buy these beautiful bundles of colorful fabrics.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we had a true Dance Walker here in my smallish town in Tennessee. He was an older man but spry and wore a tracksuit, jamming around town EXACTLY like the video. He did it for many years and who knows how long before we moved here. Alas, he has moved or passed now, but he was quite the local attraction.
Hope you get to feeling better soon. I could have told you not to go to Atlanta in July (ugh), but I know it was quite a draw.
First of all, congrats girl! That is AWESOME! I am so happy for you :) I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well, and I hope you find a little bit of happiness somewhere today that picks you up a little.
ReplyDeleteI didn't comment on your West Elm post b/c my phone was acting funny but WHOA! Amazing. When I read your first post, all I thought was "awe man. I wish she'd do a tutorial, I love those pillows. I wish I knew where to start!" and now that you are moving forward, all that I can think is "WAHOO!"
And that butterfly print is totally going to make me break my "no more fabric until I finish this WIP" boycott. Thanks :)
Continue to feel better!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the magazine feature and have fun playing with all that fabric!
Sorry you aren't feeling great. I hope it turns around for you soon.
ReplyDeleteOn a more positive note, thanks for introducing me to a workout I might be able to stick with haha. (I also love that in NYC people don't even get weirded out by this display).
Gosh feeling awful is the worst!
ReplyDeleteAll that fabric should be helping you get better! Gosh If I won the lotto I think most of it would be spent on fabric..then a house with a large room for my sewing stuff =D
that video made my day! thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteJust like you said, dance walking! It's even better than you described. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you've felt worse lately. Like I told you, you really carried yourself well, and I had no idea you were feeling bad. You are a trooper, Maureen. I'm glad you have a strong and loving family.
And you've got some lovely new fabrics to enjoy! Also, you're in a magazine! That is AMAZING. <3
Well, I HOPE you dance walked out of there - you certainly had reason to! Love the video and congrats on the mag. piece! I hope you'll be feeling better soon, will keep you in my prayers - I know how these things can wear you down.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations all the way around, well except for the health issues. It's great you have so much good to out way the bad!!
ReplyDeleteand a great video, too! That was really fun!!
