Can you tell I'm loving improv sewing these days? It seems to be the only thing I find the time to do in between my etsy orders. It certainly feels like the perfect thing to do after sewing up those crowns and pillows that are different, but still very the same each time I make one. Spending that free sewing time on something that has no rules during the making and no expectation of a specific end result just feels right and even wonderful!

How about you, what are you working on these days?

Today I'm linking up {Sew} Modern Monday!

  1. How cute! And I LOVE your chair. It's nice to be able to fit in other things in between orders. I've been spending most of my time working on tutorials.

  2. I absolutely love that last improv block and it looks magnificent against the window!

With the madness of February gone I'm finally free to sew again and have started on curtains for my sister which she has been waiting for for months. The hangers are done and now I'm kind of dreading all that fabric for the bodies, haha. I've also started on a pillowcase in reds and finished two quick shopping bags. So good to be back! :)

  3. I've never heard of that...it looks like those old crazy quilts except for no embellishment. I love it! The one you hung in the window actually looks like stained glass. I'm going to have to try "improv" sewing...it looks like fun and turns out gorgeous!

  4. I'm loving your improv projects and the fabrics you're choosing. They almost have a modern vintage look to them somehow. Beautiful.

I just finished work on my modern mini challenge entry (you can see it here at http://fabricmutt.blogspot.com/2012/03/retro-kitchen.html). It was improv in that I knew that I wanted to make a kitchen, but I was basically making it all up as I went along. Right now I'm trying to finish an I-Spy quilt for my girls. Hope you're having a great week!

  20. Wow the pillows look great and all the separate blocks. Everything all works so well together. Random sewing is the best as you just sew whatever you feel like.
I've been working on some sew-alongs and finally finished two baby quilts

  33. I love all this "improv" stuff as you call it. I've only ever made one quilt, seen in this post:(http://www.handbagsnpigtails.com/2011/09/i-finally-got-around-to-it.html), which was full of imperfections, but I was insanely proud of myself. I would someday love to make them for others if I ever figure out how to do them the right way:)
