My Very First Quilt ---The Beginning : :

I've shared my love for the quilting fabric I have chosen here, have written about my big plans before, and I have decided that I am ready to give it a go and finally begin work on my first ever quilt. I have sketched up a plan of sorts and by the look of it, I am thinking if I start now I may have it finished this year - I'm actually shooting for October, but I'm not putting that pressure on myself.

This project for me is going to be different than any other. I want to have a good solid plan, which I never have and to take my time, which I never do. I do not expect or want this quilt to come together quickly - which means I am going to have to be patient and move slowly. After all --- "patience is passion tamed" --- or something like that?...

Each Wednesday my hope is to share my quilts progression and I would love to hear about your first quilting experiences, to get some feedback, and/or any advice you can offer throughout it's completion...pretty please!

I hope everyone is staying cool! ~ Maureen

  5. That fabric looks very pretty! I like the pink one with flowers. :) I've never quilted, but I am the same about not taking my time or planning... which is why I'm not allowed to paint our walls anymore, because I can't even bother to put down drop sheets! :)

  14. I can't wait to see. I have a ton of fabric hanging over my head but like you I am terrible at following directions and always want to do my own thing ! I am so afraid of ruining the stuff that it just stays bundled up in the craft room : (. You go girl !

  16. Hi Maureen, I'm happy to have discovered your delightful blog via etsy just now! I've looked at many of the pages and will have to come back again to look at more...and to see how your quilt shapes up - the fabric prints and embroidery threads you have chosen are wonderful together. Happy crafting and best regards, zhenne

  19. Thanks for the well wishes! I am not sure why I am so nervous about making this quilt, I am usually not like this about anything (well, except driving, which I just don't do. ) I just want it to be a success that's all. Thanks again! : )
