My New Favorite Pillow : :

Inspired by one of  Meg McElwee's pillows in her book Sew Liberated, I began work on another pillow for my home. It was my first time ever using Steam-A-Seam for an applique project and I have to say --- I am a fan! It was so easy to use and work with. As soon as I finished the pillow I was SO excited and knew I wanted my next project to have fusible webbing involved. Oh, the weird things that make me happy. : )
The embellishments on this pillow were so fun to make --- with all the free-form stitching around each leaf and to fill in the trunk. It felt like I was "scribbling" with my sewing machine and I love the look of it.
I also used a bit of my little folks voile for the backside. Making this just the comfiest little pillow ever and proving to me that it is indeed possible for me to cut into this fabric I love so, so much.
I just wish I would have made two.

Happy weekending and 4th of July everyone!

  4. Something about the dobby dot voiles makes me treat them like royalty too. I'd love to have a full stack!

I've had my eye on that design from Sew Liberated for awhile. I settled on incorporating into a much-needed shower curtain - my next big project.

  6. Thank you all for the comments!

Rachel - Yes, I have 1/2 yard cuts of each print from the little folks collection and have already started shopping around to replace this little bit of blue dobby dots that I used. :)

I knew I didn't want to make a floor pillow, but loved the design - just not so much of it. A shower curtain would be amazing! I actually have a plain white canvas shower curtain in the closet that this would look perfect on!

  16. That pillow is aDORable!!! I wish I had the free-form stitching on my sewing machine, but it doesn't have that capability. Oh, well- one day I'll get one with that function!
