What's Happening : :

New owl ~ For this one I used a little of the Jeanne Morrison Fireworks fabric, that I also used here, for her wings and a little Heather Bailey for the belly. I did a neat new embroidery technique around her face. She's a chubby little gal and we like her.
New friends : :
New silliness : : This is something new that Haila is doing...
She writes pages of these little squiggles, as carefully and thoughtfully as she can. Stopping to think, every so often, before continuing on. Then, she hands it over to have me read her "story." I, of course, quickly make something up and ramble on about it until she says, "that's not what it says!" And then she takes it from me, reads what it actually says (which is usually pretty similar to what I have guessed it says). Ahem.
And, then continues writing and so on and so forth...
Now, how cute is that!

  1. Hi - found you on Etsy forums!
Very cute owls -- and I know what you mean about the story. My granddaughter (4) isn't quite into the "writing" stage, but does the same thing with made-up stories!

  2. Thanks for visiting me here! I saw your comment about selling my owls on my etsy - I usually post pictures on my facebook first and they get snatched up right away from either the stores that I work with or my followers on my group page. One of these days I'll have a full shop, but probably not until "my little story teller" gets a wee bit bigger. Thanks again! M

  8. Thanks everyone!

Kate - I know, my owls are a good way to tell what I am learning these days. They are my "guinea- pigs" for experimenting with new techniques. That is why they are always so different from the next.

Haila is 3, she'll be 3-1/2 in June ~so it's pretty interesting to me that she is already doing these type of things. It's so adorable and very entertaining.

  11. That's really cute! My younger brother used to write "stories" by scribbling on page after page of yellow legal pad paper, then he'd read the stories out loud. They were pretty funny.

  16. Ahhhh, I love it! I still remember writing in my little sprial bound notebook while I was in church when I was about 3. I did it every Sunday for the longest time. I had no idea how to write letters but it made me feel so important to have a real book. My mom saved it and gave it to me a few years ago.

BTW, I love your creations. I totally made Luke look at half of them with me. :P
