Isn't this the most beautiful Fall color palette? I think so!

Yesterday, while I worked on my Wonky Pinwheel Bee Blocks, I thought a lot about the things I plan to make for our new home. I've been creating quite the list! I'm so excited to finally be able to really decorate in a way that represents our taste and style. Since we've always rented and have moved sooo much, regardless of how much I may have loved the house we were living in, I knew it was just a temporary situation. Because of that I have never had this chance to plan and dream about making a house, our home.

While I pieced away, I also spent some time thinking about Natalie. She clearly has great taste and a wonderful sense of color! These colors together are so warm and inviting.

I thought of the last assigned bee blocks that Natalie chose for us. Those Improv Chevrons, probably my favorite blocks ever! And remembered I had made just one extra one, adding in a little navy and brown.

I have several, maybe a dozen or so, random quilt blocks hanging in my studio closet. I went and found that one that I had completely forgotten about, and right away thought about this pin, of an Eco-friendly Living Room via bhg.com. I love everything about it! This color palette is definitely one of my favorites, and one that both my husband and I love. I plan to use this image as inspiration for decorating our new family room.

Today, I'm thinking that this Improv Chevron block might have to become a first new pillow, for our new home. What do you think?

ReplyDeleteThe pic is lovely too and definitely a great cushion - I really love that mustard colour :)
Love the fall color palette! The one thing I miss about Potter County every year is autumn...something about the cool breeze that says good bye to summer, the smell of people starting their fireplaces, the color of the leaves before they fall from the trees...apple cider and doughnuts, pumpkins all carved and decorated...Those colors remind me of home, Maureen! Thanks for that bit of nostalgia today, I really needed it!!!

ReplyDeleteI love this post! The wonky pinwheels are absolutely gorgeous! And I love both your fall color palette and the idea for your living room. IF I had it to do over, that is definitely the color scheme I would use for basically the whole house. Well, maybe I'd let the kids do their own rooms, but maybe not... ;)
ReplyDeleteMaureen, you are just the sweetest! I am so glad that some of my color and design choices resonate with you, it's always so nice to know that the things I like, others enjoy too! I will most definitely plan to stop by on one of my trips to PA once you're settled in :) I am so excited to put together our quilt this month, and your blocks look perfect.

ReplyDeleteHi Maureen, just love the wonky pin wheel and the chevron. The colours are just great as well. Going to give the wonky pin wheels ago I think.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! And that bhg living room is to die for, although I know I'd spill spaghetti sauce on those white chairs. :) I'm still trying to unpack over here, but I am already eyeing up my stash to see what I can use where. Owning a home sure does open up a lots more sewing possibilities!

ReplyDeleteOoooh! This is a lovely colour palette! I really like your chevron blocks and the inspiration photo. I like that you put a grey in the chevron. In that room, I would prefer a warm grey wall paint rather than the pinky beige. I'm excited to see how you decorate your new home.
ReplyDeleteYour pillow is going to be so pretty! I love your inspiration room and can't wait to see your take on it in your new home....I'm sure it will be beautiful!! TFS
