Sewing Room New : :

This week one of my BIG goals is to work on organizing my sewing room in between projects so I can finally share photos of all that's changed. And to stitch up something pretty with Amy Sinibaldi's beautiful Paperie collection for Art Gallery Fabrics Limited Edition. Every time I hop on Instagram I see at least one amazing Paperie fabric project and this morning I'm feeling inspired to finally cut into the lovely bundle I've been admiring since it arrived at my door!

How about you, what are your sewing goals for this week?

  1. These fabrics are so feminine...love that. I am sure combined with a nice solid, they would become less so. Very cute. Have a beautiful winter day. It was 2 degrees this morning in Ohio. Brrrrr!!

  2. I'm still finishing the Herringbone quilt that was supposed to be one of my daughter's Christmas presents. The tops done, I'm just panicked to square it up. It's my first larger quilt. I made a stripe to go down the plain muslin backing fabric using all the left over strips from the front. It'll have to be for her birthday in March. I started the online quilt retreat this week too, and have cut out a quilt using Vanessa Vargas' slicer template. It'll make a nice baby quilt for the next one of my daughters friends who has a girl. It's always good to have a couple of finished quilts on hand to either give as gifts or to donate to project Linus. I'm really hopeful to make one quilt, beginning to end each month this year. It's a goal that isn't set in stone.

  3. This week I plan on

    1. Assembling my Allietare quilt top which was Bonnie Hunter's 2015 mystery quilt. It's a large queen so that one will get sent off to the longarm quilter.

    2. Then I will work on a Thimbleblossoms miniquilt swap that's due this month.

    3. Next up - binding my county fair entry.

    4. And because I have insane and unrealistic expectations I hope to finish up another UFO/WIP out of my pile of tops that just need final assembly. With 3 kids and a dog this step and basting are the most difficult for me.

  4. My sewing machine died on me the week before Christmas - ARGHHH. I had all of these things I was rushing to finish up to give as gifts and everything came to a screeching halt. Evidently the smaller machine I had purchased wasn't enough to handle everything - my husband even said I ran the thing right into the ground and he wasn't surprised it died. But that being said, I had to do my research and I found a local shop that was very good to me and I came home with a new machine just last week. So this past weekend it was learning the new machine and tackling everything that was on my table that was cut out and ready to be made into something. It's funny how once the holidays are over, I immediately had no desire to sew anything seasonal but knew if I at least pieced them I would be ahead of the game for Christmas 2017. I know what you mean though, now my space is a clean slate and I'm ready to start sewing into the new year.

  5. I have three tops that I need to back and begin quilting. I have one I need to cut the strings from and send off. But what I'm really itching to do is go and work on my new design idea...instead I have to run errands! Oh well, it's still in there, (my head(, waiting for me when I can get to it...
