A Crisscross Diamond Quilt : :

Each Summer, my big, wonderful family all spend a week together in a house right on the beach somewhere in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We're in Duck again this Summer, and just as I did last year, I brought along a newly finished quilt to photograph and to share while I'm here!

This Crisscross Diamond quilt is my newest quilt-as-you-go style quilt. A repetitive, colorful block pattern made using Pat Bravo's most recent fabric collection, Etno, with Art Gallery Fabric Prisma Elements. I love these colors together!

Measuring in at a large 80" square, the top beach house balcony worked so well for photographing!

We didn't take it down to the beach until the sun was beginning to set, but the light was so pretty!

For the back I used one of my favorite Etno prints, Pat's sketchy floral Stitched Anthomania. The bright aqua Pyramid print binding is the perfect pop of color to frame all my busy patchwork!

I'm so happy with how it turned out, it's a new favorite for sure!

I'm already thinking of ideas for the quilt I'll bring next year. Perhaps something Wild & Free!

  12. It NEVER ceases to amaze me how each time you post a new quilt I think "no, THIS one is my favorite!" Man that is so beautiful. And, great plan to photograph at the beach - it sets off the colors and patterns both.

  14. I've just discovered your blog via Fabric Spark (via Thread Riding Hood), and I must say, this is a lovely quilt and that background fabric -- a stunner! I'm going to have to check out your QAYG tutorials; it's a method I've never tried but it does intrigue me. Looking forward to discovering another new 'can't miss it' quilting blog (but do take time off from writing it to enjoy the summer... as you obviously have, at least for a week. But maybe now you need a vacation from your vacation!) ~Diana

  15. Is there a pattern for this quilt? I know it's a QAYG but the diamonds type I thought you were going to do a tutorial on that at some point. Anyway, it's lovely.
