Bark & Branch : :

In my last post I shared just a peek at this collection, Bark & Branch, a new release by Eloise Renouf for Cloud9 Fabrics. Unsure of which new fabric bundle I should cut into first, I untied the pretty bow wrapping this collection to get those good project ideas flowing, and decided these needed to become pillows a.s.a.p!  I snapped these photos quickly before beginning and just as soon as I had finished the phone rang, our luck had run out, my first kiddo had the flu! Since, they've all come down with it and are all home again today keeping me company and extra busy! While my sewing plans are still on hold, I thought you might like to see a closer look at Bark & Branch, as well!

Bark & Branch by Cloud9 Fabrics

Bark & Branch -- Line Leaf

Bark & Branch -- Autumn & Winter Wonderland

Bark & Branch -- Forest Floor & Nature Trail

Bark & Branch -- Passing Clouds

Bark & Branch -- Birdsong

Bark & Branch + RK Essex Linen

I can't pick a favorite, I really love each print! With names like Winter Wonderland, Nature Trail, Passing Clouds, and Birdsong, they're fabric perfection for these cold, winter days! I'm really looking forward to turning them into a stack of quilted pillows combined with some Essex Linen. What do they inspire you to make? I always love reading your ideas!

Feel free to send healthy vibes our way, it's been a rough week for all of us! Be sure to stop back tomorrow for an awesome Fabric Giveaway Friday with Bobbie Lou Fabrics, with hopefully another giveaway to follow on Monday for some Cloud9 Fabrics goodness and a Bark & Branch pillow show & tell!

Take care!    Maureen

    1. Thank you Jane, isn't it pretty! I appreciate the well wishes and actually think I may have started the flu and shared it with them. I was really not well last week, but since I'm dealing with an autoimmune flare I figured it was just that and not the flu. Since I'm always the first one to get sick around here, now I'm thinking I may have had it after all. Thanks again!

  3. Hello !
I love the blue cloudy one, and the black one. Can't tell why the black one, I usually prefer lighty colors... I'd probably use them for pillows or little bags, but only because I'm a beginner.

You can try some heating pad or hot-water bottle cover for the children :)
Or, as you do it so well, a beautiful quilt, representing the 4 seasons ! (I think you can represent the four seasons with the fabric I can see on the pictures)

Stay strong, don't get the flu yourself ! And good luck -from France- with the children :)

  4. These prints are so amazing! I love the two pics in the fourth picture, the darker print and the leaf silhouettes. They would make an amazing larger tote. I always need another large bag with two little ones. Hope your babies feel better soon!

  5. Hi. Maureen, I'm wondering how this would look with the Charley Harper fabric line, as it reminds of it.

  6. These prints are wonderful! Cant wait to see what you do. Be well and hopefully this sickness will pass soon. xxx

  7. I hope the whole household is feeling wonderful soon! I've been sick for two weeks now and I empathize.

  8. Hope your kids get better soon - I had it over Christmas and it is still lingering somewhat - yuck! The fabric is great - do you think it is very similar to Charly Harper's line? Looks like a knock off of that line which I have.

    1. I think the similarities are only a coincidence. Eloise Renouf has been a very successful illustrator for many years, selling these same designs in print form that she has now turned into these textiles through Cloud9 Fabrics. 9. I got the whole collection too for a while and didn't know what to do but after seeing your flying geese quilt I have decided to make one with this collection. what do you think??
I am sending you lots of healthy vibes!! as I am with the flue right now and feel sooooooooo bad.

    1. I think it would be great! You could even make the geese a bit larger since the prints are quite a bit larger than the ones I used in my quilt top. I would also recommend adding in some solids and maybe several complimenting blender fabrics.

    2. thank you! yes I also wanted to make them larger! good to have your opinion! I have never made flying geese before so it should be fun. I have some nice light pink and some red that will look great.I was thinking to use solids in the middle and maybe add some strips like you did on your soaring high quilt to show the patterns. thank you so much for answering my questions! I hope to get some rest tomorrow (but it means I can't sew!!) hope your kids feel better soon . hugs from France

  11. Oh, what a drag. Poor kiddos!

Your photos make me want to buy more Bark & Branch! I commented on it with your last post, so I won't link out again, but I really do like this line. It grows on you, too, so you go from like to kind of obsessed. =) Right now I want more clouds and both colorways for the trees.

I do a lot with Essex Linen, natural and ivory mostly but I want to pick out some other colors too. It's great for mug rugs and totes and surprisingly adaptable to doll quilts. Maybe Natural linen with the Forest Floor (that's the black one, right?) print?

Hope you are all well soon -

  12. Oh, I agree with Sophie - flying geese, but larger, like you suggested, to showcase the fabrics...with yummy solids! Other than the print with the black background, this collection would make a great low volume quilt! I can't wait to see what you make with them when your babies get better. Hope that is soon!!!

  14. Thank you so much for the pictures. I was on a site last night about to purchase some bark and branch. I hesitated thinking that the picture was probably better than the real thing..oh well. Your pictures made me realize this is great fabric and I want some of it. Thinking a tote with black accents for the beige trees. Also like the black piece and the trees with red in second pic. Thanks again. I am new to your site and have you bookmarked for frequent viewing.

  15. Love these fabrics. Thanks for sharing. I do have a different question for you though. I have finally made blocks using your QAYG technique and am ready to put them all together but now I've decided that I probably want some sashing to go inbetween the blocks. Do you have a tute on how to do that somewhere. I'm thinking I just need to create the sashing and quilt that up just like the blocks and then add that to the blocks, but thought I'd throw it out there for you to answer. Love your site and the inspiration you have given me to reconnect with my fabric friends. There isn't enough time in the day now - I just want to quilt all the time.

  18. Hope those kiddos feel better soon. Stay well yourself. Love those leaves!!

  19. I love these! So retro-looking! I would definitely make pillows and make pillow cases for bedding with the leaf ones.

  20. I would love something fussy cut of the bird and cloud print and rest of the fabric as accent with some solids. The bird and could caught my eye as the center of attract for a quilt :-).

Can't wait to see what you come up with! Its always fun to see your creations.

  21. The leaves are my favorite! I'm always challenged by that type of print (and not even sure how to describe it, that would be a nice start), so very curious to see what you do with it.

Hope the flu decides to move on soon. Don't be too nice to it!

  24. So, so sorry the flu is visiting your house. I'm sending healing prayers your way.

This fabric is really cool. It looks like some fussy cutting would make for some great appliques.
