Busy Girl : :

This is a bit of a mish-mashy post, I'm feeling kinda silly at the moment after so much assembly line sewing! Today, I managed to get almost all caught up, staying focused and busy all day! And wow, was it a lot of work!!

That was a lot of work!

I finished up just as the sun began to set, so I didn't get great photos of my efforts, and I'm not going to make it back to the Post Office today -- definitely not, I think it's below 5 degrees out there?!

I did snap two quick photos of my personal stand-out favorites from the group! This Penelope crown, inspired by this Penelope Bedding, a super cute customer request.

A Favorite -- The Penelope Crown

And, this sweet, girly Piper crown. Yup, I like it!

A favorite -- The Piper Crown

I've been enjoying this new adventure of selling felt so far, as well! I might already need to restock the most popular colors -- that's a very good thing!

Felt orders!

It was most definitely this happy mail that arrived from beautiful Michelle that got me through that mid-day hump! A Cloud9 Fabric bundle of Tsuru, by my friend, fellow gang member, and talent extraordinaire, Rachida Coleman-Hale. You'll be seeing more of these soon -- they are so, SO lovely!!

Cloud9 Fabrics -- Tsuru

I was recently asked if I wanted to have some sewing fun with Glimma, a pretty and very calming collection by designer Lotta Jansdotter, by the folks at Windham. Of course I do!! I have a floor pillow planned for our living room for one charm pack, mixed with some solids. And, for the second... Well, I thought I would offer it up to one of you -- Just for those of you who are so sweet to stop by on a Tuesday evening -- Thank you!!

Glimma LOVE!

You can enter by commenting and if you want -- by sharing what your sewing plans are for this week? I'd love to read about them!!  Maureen

p.s...winner will be announced within this post on Thursday! The Random Number Generator picked : :

#175 -- Pinspot, who said...
I do love those crowns you make! Lotta is one of my favorite designers. I finally cut up my stash of Bella and Echo for a quilt. I'm just waiting to get my hands on some Glimma before I start sewing!

  1. I wish I had a sewing plan for the week! I have everything I need except lining fabric for my first 241 bag... I'd like to try to get to it before we take a little vacation in a couple of weeks.

  4. Hi Maureen! I am seriously impressed with your productivity today-- that is quite few crowns! I love the birdie with the flags :)
This week I'm working on some embroidery hoops filled with chicopee to hang in our bathroom, it's got some vintage black and white tile that goes so well with that fabric, and it really could use a splash of color! Hope you're staying warm and cozy!

    1. Thanks Robyn! Some I hand-stitch, some I hand-cut, but most (the white lettering) are permanent iron-on, die-cut felt letters! :)

  8. In a weird way, getting sick has helped me find my sewing mojo again. My plans are to assemble a quilt top (all blocks done, just need to put them together), make some tissue covers for my mom, and after I'm feeling well again for a few days, quilt a baby quilt that's ready to be sandwiched. So thanks, cold, for helping me take a time out!

    Those crowns are adorable!

  9. Yes, please! :)
My oldest girl is turning seven on Saturday and asked me to make her a birthday dress. I've never sewn anything garment-wise more complicated than an elastic skirt but she asked -- so that's my sewing goal for the week. Wish me luck!

  40. Such cute crowns! When my 17 year old was little I used to make her small things with wool felt. It was incredibly hard to find in the mid-90's. I am so struck by home access to information has changed between her young childhood and this time with her younger sins. I must hide your feed from my four daughters or they'll start hitting me up for new goodies. I don't hVe time for anything new!

I had big plans for this week. A fibromyalgia flare-up sidelined me for most of the week, but I have to keep my hands busy. Out came my neglected hexies and oh how I missed them! I'm now torn between going back to my original plans, which involve a huge decision I've been putting off about borders, or sticking with the no stress handsewing. I am so in love with the hum of my machine though. Maybe I'll scrap it all and make more bee blocks!

    Happy Tuesday night to you!

    ReplyDelete
  41. This week I plan to finish up a mini quilt and a pouch.....both are for swaps!

  42. Love the crowns! I finished long arming two quilts a couple weeks ago and I need to bind them. So I'm hoping to work on the binding, a block for the simply solids bee, and a pouch for the pretty little pouch swap. Ambitious for my super sick early pregnancy state, but possible if I don't end up sleeping too much.
    Happy Tuesday!

  53. I have said it before, but I absolutely adore your crowns. So very very sweet and fantasy-like. My 4 year old granddaughter would swoon. You do such a beautiful job on them. It must be nice to find something so satisfying like that to work on. I am about to re-purpose a 36 year old bedspread given to us by my husband's grandmother when we got married. It's been "my blankie" the past 20 years or so after it became worn and soft and we no longer used it on the bed. It's becoming more worn, so I'm going to cut it into squares and add some other fabrics and make it into a fleece-backed quilt. I'm so excited!

  151. I must complete my Step daughter's baby quilt, will take about 20 mins. I will post pictures!

But I have been OCD looking endlessly at purse patterns and wallet patterns. I have looked at 1000 pictures over the weekend! I have also cleaned out my closet. My bedroom and closet are also my sewing room. It is not functioning well. Gotta get better organized.

I also have a king sized Jacob's latter that is for me and has been in progress for months. I have 18 or 20 of the blocks prepared and I think I need 30. Will see how that goes. It is going to be beautiful, deep purple, unbleached muslin, and a cream colored floral print.

I'm currently trying to get my studio organized and clean. As soon as I can keep it clean for a month, I'm allowed to buy a longarm and get to trade rooms for a bigger studio. Kind of juvenile, I know, but hey, I get to buy a longarm!!!
