A little more than a week ago I shared my plans for the Atlanta Sewing Retreat I was attending. Most of which were projects I needed to finish up by this week. I was happy and excited about making each of them, but once in Atlanta, I realized that a sewing retreat would not be the best place for tutorial writing, with step by step picture taking. Yes, day one at the retreat, I definitely had a "what was I thinking?" moment with the projects I had brought along. I needed something much more relaxed and easy -- a quilt for ME sounded like the perfect idea!
So, I finally dove into my own Sweet Summer Dreams blogger bundle and got to work! Want to see?
Since I've been home, my pretty stack of quilt blocks has gone untouched, but that's alright! I've been busy working my way through those projects that didn't get any love in Atlanta, and I'm so excited to share them (along with some amazing giveaways) throughout this week!
And of course, now that I'm home and back in my studio, I'm never short on help and company!
My Helper -- joining me super early to help me top-stitch!
My Lily -- happy to be the first one to try out the new picnic quilt!
My Fabric Folder -- (oh, that iron burn on my mat drives me crazy!)
My Artist -- always up to something amazing and inspiring!

It's been a busy few days playing catch up, with lots of early morning sewing, which I'm quite beginning to like! It's definitely not a bad way to start off the day, that's for sure!
And now, its going to be a busy week here -- including a new Riley Blake Design Team project, my first Art Gallery Fabrics Fat Quarter Gang project, with some AMAZING Fabric Giveaways, and even a little sewing stash make-over that I started as soon as I got home!
Yes, it's going to be a good week! I hope you do join me!! ♥ Maureen
I absolutely love those quilt blocks. So fun, colorful, and bright. Precious!
ReplyDeleteI love the iron burn on your mat... gives it character! And I love your blog! I'm new to quilting and your blog is top of my list of quilting blogs to browse for every bit of useful knowledge and tutorials! Thanks for sharing your talent... and your iron-burned mat. So glad it wasn't on your hand! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much Cheri! I'm glad it wasn't my hand too, although I'm not very excited about how permanent this iron burn is, oops!
DeleteThose blocks are incredible. You've put together such a pretty bundle of fabrics and your blocks show just how well they work together.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind spending some time with your stash, either. ;)

ReplyDeleteYour blocks are beautiful. I am glad you are making something for yourself. I really need to organize my stash.
ReplyDeleteThose blocks are beautiful (I can see why they pulled you in)! Your helpers are beyond cute (although the cat looks a tad peeved.)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ella! Oh she was, but just because I was taking pictures instead of petting her! She definitely missed me the most while I was gone! ;)
Deleteoh wow... i gasped out loud at your stash and those beautiful blocks! what an inspiring way to start the week.

Dany
your stash makes me so happy! i love how the stacks coordinate with those amazing bowls atop your shelves!
ReplyDeleteWanted you to know I had to pin your fabric stash. Fabric in shelves and bowls on top are so pretty. I cannot find a stash method that works for me. Fabric always seems to get buried. Frustrating.
ReplyDeleteSorry..I meant to add they are pined at Ramonamp, and that I will un-pin it if you're offended.
ReplyDeleteNope, I love being pinned!! ;)
DeleteSo pretty and inspiring! Thanks love your darling blog!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful things to see here!
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks! They are so summery! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving those new blocks! It is going to be a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeletethe new blocks are beautiful and cool looking, are you going to share the material used? I love your blog, I just don't know how you find time to do all the things you do and raise some a handsome son also!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, all.
ReplyDeletethanks for that last picture of your fabric shelf... it gives me a great excuse to buy some bowls at anthropologie that i've been coveting forever!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, definitely time for a 'for you' quilt. Are you sure Lily likes that quilt though?!
ReplyDeleteWhat great blocks! Love the bright summer colours! Waking up and sewing is a great thing to do! Love your fabric cubby! =D
ReplyDeleteCan't wait!
ReplyDeleteLoving that stash eye candy.
ReplyDeleteI love where that bundle's headed... but the look on your cat's face totally made my day!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics in your quilt blocks! Your son is so adorable, enjoy him, they grow up sooo fast..Just found your blog tonight, I will certainly be returning often...
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the colors and floral print in the new quilt blocks. I'm not a morning person and if I tried to sew early it would be a disaster!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your WIPs Maureen. That LillyBelle is beautiful! Your little guy is quite the artist too!
ReplyDeleteLove your team of helpers there! Can't imagine where that little one got the artistic talent....hmmmm. Your quilt is lovely....love the patterns in the fabric and colors and shades..it does remind you of Summer and the beach! Can't wait to see what you're up to next!

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful, bright sunny blocks! Can't wait to see the quilt!
ReplyDeleteAnd your helpers are very useful I see ;)
Hugs,

Love that picnicquilt using "Seaside"! You make sewing laminates look easy (the helper is for size only, isn't he)... do you use a different foot?
ReplyDeleteI just love your blocks! Do you have a particular system that you use when you make your improv blocks? And those quilted shams are just phenomenal! I just want to snuggle up with them now, but I don't think it will have the same effect if I plaster my face on my computer monitor :)
ReplyDeletethat's it! i am coming to your house to sew! ;) crazy stalker right? i loved seeing you make those blocks! they are so beautiful maureen!
