Patchwork Wheel Bee Blocks : :

Today I'm finally sharing my May do. Good Stitches bee blocks. Love Circle member Deb chose the Patchwork Wheel Block by Don't Call Me Betsy, which made for some quick and enjoyable quilt block making, if I could just find the time.

May Bee Blocks

Honestly, I think choosing and cutting the fabrics from my scraps basket may have taken longer than actually making the blocks!

I do love how these bright colors pop next to the crisp white!

Getting the chance to use up those scraps, especially my precious Good Folks fabrics, might just be my most favorite type of sewing project!

I was so worried this time about turning my blocks in late. The truth is, I had made one block a couple of weeks ago, and had thought that I only needed to make my second before I could ship them off to Deb. However, when I finally got back to sewing last week, I realized right away that I had mistakenly trimmed my first block down to a 12" square. Not sure how that happened, but it did!

No worries, that third block is almost a new quilt block tote bag, it's just waiting on some strap!

Which I hope to have finished in time to share this week!

How about you, what are you working on??

  5. That's a great block - so bright and cheerful, and I love the shot of them in front of your window. They definitely look like they could be stained glass themselves :)

  7. Love these! And I gree! The bright colors look fabulous in contrast to the white! I think that is one of my favorite quilting trends? features? techniques? Not sure what to call it, but I'm a big fan of colors with crisp white :)Once again, leaving your page inspired :)

  8. I love it when you make things with the Good Folks fabrics :) Such wonderful colors. I'm working on a picnic quilt (for a wedding gift), a garment bag (to carry my dress to the wedding), and finishing up some languishing knitting projects. So many things, so little time :)

  14. Love those blocks! The quilt will be stunning, as will be your tote. Can't wait to see it.
I'm working on being patient for the UPS guy to bring me the fabric I ordered for a little quilt for my daughter! In the meantime, I've got nap mat covers to make for my daughter's preschool. Not terribly exciting, but important for the kiddies.

  15. Love your blocks! They might be a little late, but they're so gorgeous!

Finished mine for do.Good.Stitches last night. Will mail them off today, then work on some "liberated patchwork," meaning improv and quilt-as-you-go, which I'll probably make a zippered pouch out of.
