Be Back Soon : :

The last several days have been so full, I can hardly wrap my head around everything.

First, there's the wonderful! My husband ran the Buffalo Marathon a little more than a week ago and then another as part of an amazing relay team for our little town's God's Country Marathon this past Saturday. We are all so proud of him. There is no one who inspires me more than him!

God's Country Marathon 6/2/12

Here he is on the cover of this year's brochure. This picture was taken at the finish line of his very first marathon, a year ago this past Saturday. Amazing, right?!

God's Country Marathon

Now for the bad news... I actually haven't had the chance to sew a single stitch since last Thursday, when I finished my first little project for Janome. By today I had hoped to finish up all my orders, a few other projects, and maybe even my last quilt top. With a little embarrassment, I didn't even get my May bee blocks out the door.

For the last few weeks we had been pretty consumed with buying our first house. It can be such a challenge to keep something so huge private, especially when it's all you're thinking about. Unfortunately, as it turned out those dreams of picking paint colors and curtain making and all the things that flood your thoughts during the process, just weren't for this house. It's hard not to be a little disappointed, which I am, but it simply just wasn't meant to be.

wips

Then this past Friday morning, the first day having all the kiddos home for Summer vacation, we found out that my husband's Gram passed away. We are headed out of town, so I'll be taking a blog break for at least tomorrow.

Thank you, as always, for taking time out of your own precious day to stop and say hello. I thank you and, I'll be back soon!  Maureen

  1. Oh Maureen, I'm sorry about your Gram-in-law, and that your house plans didn't work out. I think you should take the rest of the week off, you and your family deserve it. Marathon Man certainly deserves some time to chill too!

    1. Thanks Anna! These type of blog posts are never easy to write. It's been tough, but I'm so grateful my husband had his running to focus on in the midst of everything. It gave all of us something to cheer for, which we all needed!

A big "Congrats" to your Hubby on his marathon runs, I used to run 1/2 marathon distances so I know how challenging that can be.

  9. So sorry about the passing and the house. We just bought our first home and it was a huge horrible ordeal and we too lost our first home, and our second and our third. Our fourth try was a gem though and now that we're here we are happy the others didn't happen because they weren't perfect for us. Good luck and things will happen for you and your family the way they are supposed to. Don't get discouraged by the process.

  10. So sorry Maureen hugs and prayers your way -....as far as the house it is all consuming but when it's right it will just work and you will be thankful the other didn't - life happens like that!

  11. Way back nearly 37 years ago, we didn't "get" the first house we wanted. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it was definitely not the house for us. The house we did buy and lived in for 25 years was home. Where we raised our kids and made memories that have lasted a lifetime. So things do happen for a reason, my dear. Hugs and comfort on the passing of your loved one. Rest and unwind too, if that's possible!

I think the house didn't work out cause there is a way better one that is waiting for you and is "meant" just for your family. I bet it's just around the corner...

And my congratulations on his marathon achievements. Bravo ! I can well understand why you'd be so very proud of him. BTW - you two make a lovely couple. :)

It's sad that the deal on the house fell through but I'm sure there is something even better waiting for you. When the time is right the Lord will send it your way. :)

Sorry on the loss of you and hubby's Gram. Congrats to your hubby for the Marathons. Son in Law has been running in them for over 10 yrs and love it~am sure yours will too. As for the house~that is what it is~just a house. When the right HOME comes along it will be a fit and serve your family wonderfully. We have moved quite a bit with hubby's job and later mine. The house we think we want is not always the best and God definitely know. Understand your disappointment, but it will all work out in the end. Keeping you all in my prayers.

    1. It isn't something I have ever talked about here, but the whole house situation has been a stressful one for us. It's a long story, but in the 11 years we've been together we have moved 7 different times! It really does feel like the only thing missing from our lives at this point, is to finally find a HOME. We do know it will happen eventually, this is just the furthest we have ever gone through that process and it was hard to walk away!

      Thanks Susan!!

I hope you're able to find a good home for you all too. That's really hard, though we haven't bought yet so I don't actually know firsthand yet. It's got to be very emotional too. Just imagine that an even better place is waiting for you to find it :)

  31. So sorry to hear about grams passing especially in the middle of house hunting disappointment. The right house will come along and you'll find it will probably be even better than the one you didn't get, it's just funny how that happens. Remember also that you're experience two of the worst stressors that happen to people, death and buying/selling a house. Hang in there :)

    have fun doing it!

  35. As much as I enjoy visiting your blog everyday for inspiration, you need to make time for you and yours and I think we all understand that. Sorry that the house deal fell through, I can relate to that as we're still in an apartment with my sewing in a corner of the dining room. We'll get a house soon and so will you.

  44. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been facing some tough things recently! It's so hard to have your sights set on a house and not have it work out, and my heart goes out to you and your family for the loss of your husband's grandma. I lost my grandma 3 years ago and I still think about her all the time.
I'm so glad to see that you have some positive things happening, though! My husband runs marathons, too, and it is SO inspirational to see him finish a race! Plus, there seems to be a lot of crafty goodness in the picture you shared-- I hope that keeps you going! Sometimes focusing on a quilt or project I have in mind helps cheer me up.
