Tiny Patchwork. Thrifted Stool : :

I have been pinning patchwork inspiration like crazy over on Pinterest, my newest obsession. So, when I spotted this yellow stool outside our local consignment shop on Saturday for just a few dollars, I decided to bring it home and play around a bit with something patchwork of my own. A little cushion sounded perfect! Piecing the fabric together -- no problem, I love any project that requires using up those scraps!

Pinning and quilting with a few straight stitches went easy too. I was even beginning to feel a little confident about quilting something larger. The cushion was the perfect size for my stool, I was siked! So, I pinned in place a long piece of double folded bias tape to hide the raw edge around the perimeter of the circle cushion. This was my design plan all along. Unfortunately, from the very beginning this step just wasn't laying right, but I decided to stitch the trim in place anyways. Oh my, was it awful and it looked terrible! * Sigh *

So, instead of ripping it all out, I just trimmed it away and ended up with this. It's not perfect, but at least Lily likes it.

However, she didn't like me much after I gently removed her from the stool for my picture taking. Nope, she was definitely not happy with me!

We were both a little unhappy, but I thought I'd share my little weekend project anyways.

I guess that's just how it goes sometimes. Now I am actually thinking of turning this cushion into a baby bib -- I know, I'm a bit of a weirdo! Waste nothing - right? Feel free to leave me a link to what you've been working on lately, I'd love to see!

I hope a lovely weekend was had by all!!!  ~ Maureen

  6. Wow, well thanks everyone! Maybe I will just leave it alone then? I guess it was just a bit disappointing to not have it turn out as planned.
