A Tsuru Quilt Top { and GIVEAWAY! } : :

Tsuru Wind Blown

Oh how I love Tsuru!! It's the new collection by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Cloud9 Fabrics. When these arrived, I knew they had to become a quilt top asap!

Tsuru Quilt Top

I originally decided to turn my FQ bundle into a quilt full of framed centered and off-centered squares. I was able to get two blocks finished right away after settling on that idea. I was so excited to see it all come together, but ran out of time. It was a few days later before I got back to it, and after taking a second look, I decided to play with some improv.

And, I'm SO glad I did!!

Tsuru Quilt Top

Improv is so much fun for me! Once I started, I just couldn't stop, and ended up staying up half the night until my Tsuru quilt top was completely finished! I've been really inspired by Aztec patterns in prints, home decor, and fashion lately, so that definitely worked it's way into the design of this quilt top!

Tsuru Finished

I used lots of coordinating Art Gallery Fabric Pure Element solids in the quilt, as well. In order from left to right I used -- Snow, Linen White, Mirage Blue, Light Grey, Coral Reef, Nocturnal, Crystal Pink, and Empire Yellow. Goodness, I've already wiped out half of my solids stash this year!

Tsuru & Pure Elements

Our white fence and all the snow we had this past weekend made such a pretty backdrop for this quilt top.  The colors that make up this collection are just so amazing together!

Tsuru Color

Of course, I do have my personal favorite photos! This one, the little peek I shared of my Tsuru quilt top on Monday.

Tsuru Quilt Top -- I can't wait to share it later this week with a Tsuru Giveaway!!!

That night I brought my quilt along as we went to the park to feed the ducks. I thought I might get some pretty shots, but it was too windy in one direction and so glaringly bright in the other. This photo was such a happy accident,  I L♥VE it!

  3. I love your pictures! The quilt looks great! My story involves my five year old nephew. I had made a rag quilt for his mom's baby shower. They decided not to find out the sex ahead of time-so this was a baby themed/neutral colored quilt. As a baby they turned it upside down for him to play on, then as he got older it became the quilt he sleeps under at night. This summer he told me it no longer covers his toes. So-for Christmas I made him a newer, brighter, bigger rag quilt--with cat print flannel since he loves our cats! I also made a matching blanket for his bear, and since I had some leftover fabric-I made a pillowcase as well. He loved them! Christmas Eve, after all the presents were opened-he curled up on the chair with bear and their blankets. The next night when he went to bed-he told his mom that everyone/thing (all his stuffed animals)sleeping in his bed had to be covered by something handmade!

  13. Thank you Maureen and Cloud9 Fabrics for the chance to win this great bundle! My Mom did sew but never quilts. My husband's Grandmother was the quilter in the family. I have so many wonderful quilts that she made for our family. Last year I joined the local American Sewing Guild so that I could learn some new skills. I am just starting my first two quilts. I am doing a mystery block of the month and doing two blocks each month instead of one. I have two daughters and want to give each of them my first quilt! Hopefully the tradition will be carried on....

  38. I've only been quilting for two years and as far as I know, I'm the only quilter in my family (at least for this and the past two generations). I did have two quilts that my husband's grandmother made – only one left. My husband and son used the other one to put on the garage floor while they changed the oil in the truck. Yes, they're still alive and well, but it was a close call! They both steered clear of me for several days.

    Thanks for the giveaway.

Coincidentally, for the pieced project, I'm using the blogger bundle 'for the boys' @ Pink Castle fabrics...you were the blogger that composed that bundle!...love the colors, and it's been waiting in my stash. The background will be Bella flax.

Both of these are nice, relaxing projects!
