This is a bit of a mish-mashy post, I'm feeling kinda silly at the moment after so much assembly line sewing! Today, I managed to get almost all caught up, staying focused and busy all day! And wow, was it a lot of work!!
I finished up just as the sun began to set, so I didn't get great photos of my efforts, and I'm not going to make it back to the Post Office today -- definitely not, I think it's below 5 degrees out there?!
I did snap two quick photos of my personal stand-out favorites from the group! This Penelope crown, inspired by this Penelope Bedding, a super cute customer request.
And, this sweet, girly Piper crown. Yup, I like it!
I've been enjoying this new adventure of selling felt so far, as well! I might already need to restock the most popular colors -- that's a very good thing!
It was most definitely this happy mail that arrived from beautiful Michelle that got me through that mid-day hump! A Cloud9 Fabric bundle of Tsuru, by my friend, fellow gang member, and talent extraordinaire, Rachida Coleman-Hale. You'll be seeing more of these soon -- they are so, SO lovely!!
I was recently asked if I wanted to have some sewing fun with Glimma, a pretty and very calming collection by designer Lotta Jansdotter, by the folks at Windham. Of course I do!! I have a floor pillow planned for our living room for one charm pack, mixed with some solids. And, for the second... Well, I thought I would offer it up to one of you -- Just for those of you who are so sweet to stop by on a Tuesday evening -- Thank you!!

I do love those crowns you make! Lotta is one of my favorite designers.
I finally cut up my stash of Bella and Echo for a quilt. I'm just
waiting to get my hands on some Glimma before I start sewing!
Looking forward to getting started with my end room redecorations.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! Wow! I've been sewing up an unexpected storm here lately and am hoping to get a quilt top and a couple of backs done before the creative weather shifts. :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your weather is cold. We've just 'warmed up' to -20C after a sharp drop this week. I don't mind the cold too much myself but if you're not used to it, it's a system-shock, for sure.
I need to sew 6 keychains today for little giveaways as it is my son's birthday tomorrow...so, let's go !
ReplyDeleteI love your little crowns, the are adorable !!!
Hugs, Marina
My sewing project this week? - hm, let me think - a throw pillow for my couch...
ReplyDeleteWow, busy girl indeed! No sewing this week as I'm away from my machine. I did deliver my finished Yoshi quilt to his new home, though, and it makes me happy to see just how happily it's being received. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for my baby to arrive so I have started a new quilt top using some chicopee design rolls.

ReplyDeleteThose crowns are darling! I really hope to get my latest quilt at least basted...I have no idea why I'm dragging my feet so much on it!
ReplyDeleteNext year my Girls will need some hats..they look beautiful..... do you have any sports ones.. my grandson doesnt turn 1 until July but.. hey they are planning early..
ReplyDeleteI have a lotta love for Lotta's fabrics! I am on the home stretch in hand-sewing hexy-flowers for a queen size quilt. Sewing on another big section and then atteching partial flowers ariound the edges. I really want to get this done, so I can start using it!! It is cold in PA right now, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of a quilt for a quilt along, a quilt for my little boy that is challenging me as it's been one that I'm making up as I go along, and finishing christmas presents that were given in an unfinished state: a skirt and headband, pair of pants and pajama pants. I really need to finish something instead of starting and getting stuck in the middle. I do like cutting things out though! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of crowns!! I bet it feels good to get them checked off the to-do list.
ReplyDeleteI've got a quilt going, but I haven't had a chance to work on it in a week or so...hopefully I'll get back to it again.
I've got so much on my to-do-sewing list. I think this weekend, I'm going to try to finish up some Hoop Travel Bags and a Valentine's mini quilt that's been put on the back-burner for a while.
ReplyDeleteI would love some Glimma! I don't have any yet and my piles of Echo and Bella are lonely :)

ReplyDeleteYour crowns are so cute! I am sewing some receiving blankets for a nephew, and I'm trying to sneakily sew 2 aprons for my girls. A little difficult to surprise them with anything seeing as we home school and I seem to with them 24/7 :)
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful crowns, Maureen! You're a great inspiration to me! Right now I'm finishing some pillows for my baby girl! Kisses from Argentina!
ReplyDeleteI checked out From the House of Tula Pink at the library and now I want to start on the rain drops quilt she has in the book. However, that would involve my sweet baby napping well, which most likely won't happen. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like eveyone is a prince or princess at your house!

ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog today by following the New Leaf blog hop. The felt crowns are fabulous! If the Glimma giveaway is still open, I'd love to have that too. Thanks for the opportunity!

I just finished the last quilt block for the 2012 Craftsy BOM....now I am going to assemble it.
ReplyDeleteMy new sewing project is to finish up a duvet cover I started about 2 years ago. I seamed the edges of the fabric and that's as far as I got. I had the original cover that was literally shredding apart when I made my first duvet cover. But then I tossed it. Now I need to make a second cover and I can't remember how I made the first one. I've looked at it over and over and just can't figure out what I did. But I need to get this done so I'm just going to wing it and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteI plan on doing some sewing on my scrappy trip along quilt this week....Hopefully will get somemore done. Contemplateing makeing a runner out of some of the blocks..But unsure yet. Also planning on reading my 2 new quilting and sewing magazines and looking at a new sewing supplies catalog tha tcame in the mail and I also need to hem some pants this week as well. conn_and_vans_mom(at)yahoo(dot)com

ReplyDeleteWorking on a few pillowcase dresses for a spring craft fair.
ReplyDeleteThis week I'm going to finish up cross stitching Dr. Whos and then turn that into a passport and travel document folder for my dad's birthday. Then if I have time after that, I'd like to try sewing a tiny dress for my not-yet-born baby! :)
ReplyDeleteMy big sewing plan for the weekend is to go to the dealer where I bought my machine to replace my free motion quilting foot. Seems to have disappeared, I suspect the three kittens have hidden it somewhere but it is needed!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of the Tsuru and the Glimma! I've been busy making clothes for myself lately. Sewing up a skirt today!
ReplyDeleteI am in week 5 of recovering from a fractured leg--and have started some sewing to brighten my days. Working on 2 Lotta Jansdotter projects this week---Bella's Birds quilt in schooner and poppy. One for each of my eldest daughter's friends who will be getting married in June! Enjoyed your table of felt crowns---brings me back to the days when my brood was young....hang on tightly---time goes by quickly :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance! I'm currently working on the Starburst Quilt-A-Long that Happy Quilting is running. I have way too many HST's to trim tonight!

ReplyDeleteHugs,

hmmm...I might have commented...or not. Something went a little wacky in the browser there, so I apologize if this is a duplicate. :)
ReplyDeleteYour crowns are adorable as always. I am continually impressed by your creativity. I like to mix things up from instructions, but I'm not so good at coming up with my own creations. Need to work on that. :)
Currently, I'm working on finishing up Week 1's projects from Rachel's (Stitched in Color) Handstitched class, which has been fun so far and I think I'm going to learn a lot.
Hi Maureen! I follow you on FB. Right now Im quilting the quilt I made for the SewCanShe sewalong. At the same time Im quilting a pillow sham I made from an extra block from the third quilt Im quilting, my queen sized turning 20 Amy Butler quilt. Hhahaha. Joggling, thats what Im doing! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!! Im quilting 2 quilts, making a pillow sham and browsing my favourite bloggers!
ReplyDeleteGreat work Maureen! Since I have a new little addition I think if all I do this week is the odd bit of embroidery I will be happy :)
ReplyDeleteI have a pink, yes bright pink chair in my studio and I just bought some amazing velvet style upholstery fabric to make a throw to cover it up. I have enjoyed the pink but it is time for a change. The new throw is chocolate brown.
ReplyDeleteHI!
ReplyDeleteim planning on refashioning mans shirt :)
Those crowns look great. Maybe I need one to wear around the house just so I feel special.
ReplyDeleteThis we all my sewing has come from Rachels Curves Class. It's been a great learning experience so far and very enjoyable.
I HOPE to be able to test out some of my paper pieced patterns, but realistically I probably won't get much done :)
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to finally finish sewing together a VERY simple pillow for the couch - it will really only take me five minutes but so far I haven't gotten a chance! Hopefully the weekend will find me some free time - I want to enjoy resting on my couch with my head on that pillow!
ReplyDeleteLove the crowns, too - the two you highlighted are adorable!
Oh I love your crowns this week I am trying to organise my sewing room a bit and get some stitcheries ready for stitching!

ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win!
Julie
I'm actually sewing, not quilting. I'm making the Lazy Girl's Runaround Bag for my 2 granddaughters. Love the Glimma line!
ReplyDeleteThis week I will be busy helping my 6 year old son sew a quilt for his 100th day of school project! Yippee! I can't wait to get my hands on Rashida's crane print. Oh oh oh I am nutty about cranes, can't wait to sew with them!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm finally getting around to sewing new curtains for the kids rooms. I bought the fabric a year or two ago and it out this past summer. Oops! Well, I have been busy sewing though so I guess it is ok.
ReplyDeleteThe crowns you make are darling. I'd love to have some of Lotta's new glimma. I love her other lines. Not sure what I'd make, probably a throw size quilt for ME!
ReplyDeletepaweis at yahoo dot com
I spent the day setting up a series of half-square triangle blocks to be sewn six at a time. My plan is (and has been, for an embarrassingly long time), to sew six of those squares each time I sit down and sew something for someone else, and eventually we shall have a king-sized quilt on our own bed. I got behind when my pre-arranged hst groups ran out. For want of ironing and rotary cutting, I've ignored this for way too long. Now I'm back in the groove and I feel magnificent!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a quilt and some throw pillows of only Marimekko fabrics. I've been collecting them for nearly a year and it's time to create something beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to sew a few squares on the quilt for my grandparents on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI love your crowns!
ReplyDeleteI hope to finish a bargello quilt that I started last week. I am meeting my quilting group on Saturday, and hope to come a long way on the quilting top.
Thanks!
Hope its not to late... I will be making a quilt to leave on the couch in the living room!
