Today is the end of the school year here and in just a few hours our Summer will begin! I'm not sure yet how my sewing time will change, I am sure it will, and I plan to adapt as quickly as I can! Yes, I've already begun my sewing plans for Summer...
When Brenda asked me to put together a custom bundle for her shop, Pink Castle Fabrics, I knew it had to be Summery, beachy, vintage-y, yet very colorful.
I've been loving the color coral again this year, so that was an obvious first color choice, but once I thought of my favorite West Elm mugs it all came together quickly. The hardest part was making those cuts, I don't think a bundle of 20 fabrics is what Brenda had in mind. I asked my facebook friends for their opinions on naming this bundle, which was really wonderful. There were so many good ones! We finally decided on Sweet Summer Dreams -- a bundle of 12 fat quarters in soft grays, blues, corals, yellows, and aquas -- available right here! I hope you like it!!
One thing we really need for this Summer is a new beach/picnic blanket. Enter Seaside, the new collection by October Afternoon for Riley Blake. Aren't these prints adorable?! I think they'll be just perfect, combined with some yellow, chevron laminate, for our blanket and my next Design Team project!
Arriving with these fabrics was a bit of happy mail for me!
A little mention of my blog in the newest issue of Where Woman Create -- woohoo!
On Monday, we all agreed that we are ready for Summer days.
and for me...some Summer sewing!

ReplyDeleteOh I love your bundle! I have made a promise to myself that I am working from Stash-Only for summer with the exception of a couple of collections I've been anxiously awaiting (Field Study and Chicopee), but man this is tempting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bundle! You're so good with color♥
ReplyDeleteI love the grey in these fabrics! Hmmm, I need to get more greys in my stash! An over looked color for sure!
ReplyDeleteYeah, these look really pretty with the gray, but I also think they would look amazing with a solid white. Wouldn't the colors just pop!

ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Maureen!
I just bought a fat quarter bundle of Crabtastic (http://www.fatquartershop.com/store/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details.asp?Shopper_id=85985820518598&Store_id=499&page_id=23&Item_ID=71795&Parent_Ids=) which I immediately fell in love with. I've been craving some serious beach time at the Fenwick Island condo my boyfriend's family owns. The beach house was bought by his grandmother, and is laden with her mother's beautiful quilts and her own embroidery. This past Christmas, I was able to complete the last piece of cross-stitch she'd worked on before she passed away (blogged about here: http://caffeinecurve.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/offthefaceoftheearth/), so this summer I thought I'd add a quilt of my own to the beach house collection. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to start work on it, but I need my friends to stop having so many babies first so I can take a break from the baby quilts!
wow school finish early where you live, here there is still one month to go, end around 21 of june. Nice idea a picnic quilt, have one in mind to with the wonky house swap! Happy summer sewing to you
ReplyDeleteI need to donate my mugs and get new ones. Mine are boring and I love yours :)
ReplyDeleteI was also just thinking a needed a beach blanket, but if I made my own it might take me til next summer lol.
Have a great weekend :)
Paula
