Bottled Rainbows : :
I hope a wonderful Easter was had by all! I was planning to share just our doodle eggs today.
Here's my personal favorite -- doodled by me, waxed and colored by my oldest son Kaiden.
But, on Saturday morning I finally found a good stretch of sewing time, and decided it was long time I finished up my Bottled Rainbows quilt blocks!
First, I added the quilting to my Grass block.
Which left just my Berry and Violet blocks. They came together surprisingly quick, even though I took my time. These purples are so pretty!
The center of my Berry block was a nice surprise, an almost perfectly fussy cut Innocent Crush scrap!
And, the back of my Violet block is one of my favorites. Once this quilt top is stitched together, I definitely plan to show off the back, too! I love the way the batting side of each blocks looks.
I had first decided on this layout. Mixing up the colors from the traditional rainbow order.
But at a second look, with the help of my sisters, we all agree that ROYGBV + Pink looks best.
Now I'm just waiting for a chance to sew these blocks together! I can't wait!!

I can only imagine how time consuming it was to applique all of those tiny pieces, great job, I love the quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary! I'm afraid to look back and see when I actually started this project -- it feels like a very long time ago!!
DeleteWow - it's stunning! How are you going to quilt the borders? Can't wait to see it finished! Happy Monday! ☺
ReplyDeletePretty! I like your purple blocks!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the uniqueness of each block. And what a fun use of fabric scraps!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine!! I am very tempted to add even more scraps where I can, but I think it's best to just leave it alone and finish it off, once and for all!
DeleteEach block is amazing! Seeing them all together is a real work of art.
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you so much! A very time consuming project, but well worth it in the end that's for sure!!
Delete:) Maureen
I'm going to choose a favorite - the aqua block with the birds. So sweet!

ReplyDeleteOhhh..so gorgeous! Love that back shot. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYep, still love these Bottled Rainbows! Have fun with the fun part... putting them all together!
ReplyDeleteI have had the solids for a bottled rainbows for months now - but yours is by far the best one that I have seen - if there were awards for the best bottle on the block yours would win hands down - great job - cannot wait to see the finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing Maureen!!! You are such a creative inspiration! =D
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!!!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! so pretty and colourful! xxx
ReplyDeleteLove them all!
ReplyDeleteI loooooooooove your variation on the Bottled Rainbows! I have all of my solids, but have been putting this one off because I wasn't completely sold on the original design. Yours has inspired me to think outside the "box"!
ReplyDeleteI do love Rachel's original design, but at the time the quilt-along was happening, I had an idea to do a quilt with a mandala inspired block design. I really wanted to join in this one (although I knew I would be finishing much later than everyone) so I combined Rachel's colorful quilt plan and ticker tape style, with my own idea for the center layout. I'm really glad I did!
DeleteThanks Beth!!
i love it so much Maureen! so beautiful! your kids look adorable with it too! you are so talented, so so talented!
ReplyDeleteWow. Those are all just gorgeous. I would love to be able to do something as awesome as those blocks. I'm afraid it may be awhile yet for me though.
ReplyDeleteThis is really gorgeous Maureen! Love how you interpreted these blocks, it is just fab :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt you are going to have!
ReplyDeleteI love how all the blocks are different, it looks fab!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is turning out just gorgeous! Can't wait to see how it is finished! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda! I am still deciding on how I want to finish it. I do have my backing fabric already, but I am not sure if I should add a border in the center block off-white color or not? I think that could be tricky, since it is a quilt-as-you-go quilt?
DeleteThanks again!!
Love the quilt and your Easter eggs are pretty too!
ReplyDeleteThose doodle eggs are adorable! And I am IN LOVE with the squares! Fab job as always :) Now to get my butt back to my sewing machine and work out the kinks in my sewing mojo... its been on vacation or something. LOL
ReplyDeleteMaureen, This quilt is just amazing. I am looking at each block as close as I can to see the design. Did you have it in mind prior to starting or as you go. The owl is just precious. The colors are just gorgeous, so is your stitching. The kids look like they had a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteOMG the blocks are all so gorgeous!! I love the deep orange and the red blocks the best =D
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful. I've been thinking of starting a bottled rainbows quilt... I think you just decided it for me with this beautiful version!
