First I need to shamelessly point out all of the changes that I made to my blog last night, just in case you don't notice! hehe What do you think? It honestly felt like it took me forever, but was so long overdue! I still have lots to add/change/update, but I think it looks less messy and much more colorful, so I'm happy. :) And, I want to say thank you for all the well wishes you left me on my Riley Blake news! We're very excited!
Today I have a little Valentine's mini quilt progress to share...
I started quilting it and quickly became very stuck? My plan has always been to piece the quilt top and then to do some sketch-y type quilting with black thread, similar to the way I've done fmq over my applique pillows. After I added the black stitching, it still looked very plain and I knew I needed to add more quilting in all that aqua space. Thankfully Jacey was there to help!
I do like the way the back looks like a simple drawing!
I decided to keep it simple and add some swirly designs throughout the sky.
What do you think? What would you have done?
I'm still not sure if I should be done with the quilting, but I have some time to figure it out while I wait for my binding fabric to arrive. I look forward to hearing your ideas!
It's starting to look like Valentine's Day in my favorite corner!
I'm off to finish up this weeks birthday crown orders and then work on my Scrappy Quilt! I can't wait to show you how that one's coming together!!
p.s. Tomorrow I'll be having a new fabric giveaway sponsored by Moona Fabrics! Here's a peek. Be sure to stop back!!
Love the swirls in the sky! You always seem to amaze me with your creativity if its sewing or something as simple as redesigning your blog. Can't wait to see what's next :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cynthia!!
Deletei am pretty much in love with the heart on a string. a perfect addition!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilting! Adds so much to the quilt - it looks very simple but you can tell it was a lot of work :)
ReplyDeleteYour blog and your quilt look great!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLove that quilting on the mini but what I really love is the chair below the mini quilt. Great chair!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the RB design team too! They are lucky to have you!
Oh, so cute! Love the quilting, too. I think those swirls add just the right touch of playfulness and movement. Very pretty! And, your favorite corner look so wonderfully cozy and warm.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is looking great Maureen! It's so nice to see your face up there!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne!
DeleteLove the quilting and especially how it looks on the back! I can't think of anything to add to it. The blog looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks lovely and the red heart certainly takes center stage. I would not add anything more to it.
ReplyDeleteI really like the updated look of your blog. This is something I have dreamed of doing but am too timid to give it a try ... afraid that I'll irrevocably mess things up and end up with a blog that looks like a cryptogram puzzle. :)
I didn't delete anything until what I added looked better, which helped settle my nerves of ruining everything! :) There was a moment when I was about to change the widths of everything where I thought -- oh boy, here we go?? But it all turned out fine, thankfully!
DeleteVery cool quilt, and your blog looks great!

DeleteThat is real inspiration for Valentine's day!
ReplyDeletei like the swirls a lot, but it does still look a bit empty- what about hand quilting some clouds with white floss? or maybe a cardinal, to add in some red?
ReplyDeleteI thought about adding some hand-quilting, but I am not sure what just yet! Thanks for the feedback -- I really appreciate it!! :)
DeleteI love this! Thanks for posting to the Wonky House Group. Congrats on Riley Blake, I happen to know another member Madame Samm. Good for you girls!
ReplyDeleteFresh and clean!
ReplyDeleteI love it! And the back looks really cool too!
ReplyDeleteThat is really pretty- in fact, your latest quilting projects have put a slight urge in me to see what I can come up with. Perhaps I'll begin quilting, too.... (the real way).
