After more than a month of birthday and holiday celebrating, visitors, trips, sickness, school cancellations and delays, today is the first day I'm home alone in a very, very long time! I still plan to share a post just for last years quilts, but for today I am treating myself to a free sewing day!
Yes, I'm finally starting my first quilt of the new year! I've been eager to cut into my stack of Minimalista and matching solids since they arrived a couple of months ago. I can't wait!!
How about you, what will your first project for 2014 be?

If I had all those lovely fabrics to work with, I would be excited too. I don't have any plans right now, but I see lots of small quilted projects coming soon for me. Those hexagons are calling my name.
ReplyDeleteThese colors are gorgeous!! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteLooks intriguing. Hope to see sneak peeks
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Art Gallery Fabrics ~ they are always so soft and colorful!
ReplyDeleteI've got a few ideas for what's next ~ but I've gotten into finishing. Quilted one quilt top on Sunday and getting ready to do another today! Feels so good to get them done! There are so many things I want to be doing ~ need to pick one and do it!
What a yummy way to start the year!
ReplyDeleteAnything made with these fabrics is surely to turn out beautiful! Sounds like a great way to start the New Year to me, as well! After a few days of not knowing where to begin you've just inspired me to dig in to the fabrics that are most calling me and to just go for it. I also like to see that you still sketch out your ideas with pencil and paper. That's my way too!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great sewing day! I have projects to finish from last year but my bees are working on some butterfly blocks for my daughters quilt and i am going to try some hand applique!
ReplyDeleteI will be taking a little break from most sewing for the next 6 months. I asked Santa for, and received, a 6 month subscription to Ancestry.com. So I will be spending as much time as possible "sleuthing" into my family's past. I hope I can get information to go with the piles of pictures I inherited from my Mom. I would love to compile something for my family gifts next Christmas. Wish me luck. I will still be sewing gifts that my daughters-in-law need along the way - I tell them that is their inheritance from me - they are just getting a little early! I also like to see that you sketched out your designs on paper.
ReplyDeleteyes! can't wait to see!:) I am just finishing a mini spool quilt using Liberty fabrics for a house warming party: my friend is a sewer so I hope she will like it!:)
ReplyDeleteTrying in trying to finish up a Christmas quilt ;0) for next year
ReplyDeleteOhh, they're so lovely! Can't wait to see what you make with them!
ReplyDeleteMyself I'm making a little table runner for valentines day hexies =)
Sounds great! I'm starting with a doll quilt made up of scraps from the quilt I made for my daughter for Christmas. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm awaiting a couple of mini charm packs to make something for a future FQ mesh series contribution
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get the fabrics then match up a loan solid for the background
LOVE these fabrics / colors / prints / solids - ALL of it!!! Yummmm! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Enjoy the time you have :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a blog about your 'creative' process, how you sketch things up, etc.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove those fabrics! Beautiful colors! I am working on decorative pillows for my living room...gotta get some color in there! Also, just want to say..thanks...just seeing that a experienced and professional quilter such as yourself....still uses a tablet and pencil to draw quilt designs (instead of always the PC!) inspires me to keep on quilting with hopes of becoming an expert quilter too! I continue using good old fashioned graph paper...or draw my own on a tablet just like you!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to attempt to make a quilt for my daughter as my first official start in the new year. I had a friend make a quilt for our soon-to-be-born daughter and Clara has gone nuts over it. I don't think she realizes that she doesn't get to keep it! So I want to make one for her to take the place of this one she has fallen in love with.
ReplyDeleteI love these fabrics and can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be gorge!! =D
ReplyDeleteI cant tell you how jelous I am right now! ha ha i so wish that I could have a day home alone, but with 4 year old twins and a 1 year old boy (and another on the way) it will be a while i think!
ReplyDeleteI am planning three baby quilts for my three good friends who are having little girls.
Your quilts are so inspiring! I always follow patterns, but I am feeling a bit more adventurous and may just have to get out some paper and a pencil and design one!
