Celebrations and Earth Day Sewing : :

This weekend we celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary and Jacob's 9th Birthday. I'm sure it goes without saying that this weekend in April, the birthday boy's big day always wins out! This year Jacob decided on a movie theater theme party and it was so much fun!!

Jacob's 9th Birthday Movie Party!

Complete with a Popcorn Cake, made by my best friend Cynthia of TaylorMade Baked Goods!

Paper good details that were super sweet, from Sweet Bella!

A concession stand, run by Haila and myself. We were both wearing our Applique Aprons!

Our Concession Stand

This was my very favorite picture from the day! It was such a great weekend!!

My favorite photo of the day!

Today, in celebration of Earth Day, I'll be sewing for each of the kids a cross-body, fold-over satchel in some fabric from my stash, mostly purchased from Bloomerie!

For Bag Making

These bags will be made to fit their new sketchbook and pencil sets from Stubby Pencil Studios. We plan to do a lot of bike-riding this Summer and since my kids are all such little artists, I've been wanting to make them each a bag, perfect for bringing along their sketchbooks and drawing supplies!

Notebooks and Pencils from Stubby Pencil Studios

I'll be sure to share them once they're finished!

Today, in celebration of Earth Day, Stubby Pencil Studio is giving a free set of colored pencils with every sketchbook purchased! These sketchbooks are really adorable, and are also super Earth friendly, made from 100% post consumer recycled paper that is acid and chlorine free, fully biodegradable glue, and vegetable based inks.

Stuby Pencil Studio's Earth Day Special
My kiddos are going to love them, I can't wait!

Be sure to check out these great sketchbooks here!

In addtion to receiving the free set of colored pencils, you can also use discount code EARTHDAY and receive 15% off your order thru midnight 4/22/13!!

Happy Earth Day everyone!! I wish you all a wonderful,
new week!!

    1. The popcorn is actually made out of marshmallows, with a little yellow food coloring! My friend the amazing cake-maker prepped them all for me, I just had to open them into three pieces, use some icing to set a whole marshmallow in the center of each , and then use more icing to set them on the cake. That took me about 1.5 hours or so!! But it was worth it, they looked just like real popcorn and were yummy, too!

  9. Your favorite picture is my favorite too! What an awesome theme and he sure looks older than 9! It seemed at though (for me) once my children got that "pre-teen" age, life started moving at a much faster rate of speed.
    Happy Birthday, Jacob!!

    1. Really, older than 9? He is such a peanut, just a little more than 50lbs! I wish things would slow down, especially once Summer gets here, but yes -- things are going full speed these days! It's so important to enjoy each and every one of them!!

  22. what a great party idea! LOVE the theme. I am usually too lazy to do a theme. We typically just go outside and play. My son wanted a Mayan Temple cake this year(for his 10th). My cake was not nearly as nice as yours! Maybe you can plan my next party. :) http://simple-yes-easy-no.blogspot.com/2013/04/more-birthday-celebrations.html if you want to see pics.

  24. Ok, this may seem like a crazy question but where did you get the tub of Twizzler? My hubby has been asking me for a tub like that for his desk. I have been to Sams since that seemed like the logical place but they didn't have any. The guy there looked at me like he had never even heard of Twizzlers when I asked if they had any.
