Scrappy Patchwork Love Machine Pillow : :

Inspired by some mini quilts I have recently seen in flickr land, I began work on my own "scrappy project" earlier this week. I love the look of the raw edge patchwork applique and was thrilled to be working on something that was only going to require that I use some of my tiny fabric scraps from the growing basket I have on my studio room floor...perfect!

Once I had my fabric scraps pieced together large enough for an 18x18 pillow insert. I started thinking of what I should applique on the front? I had lots of ideas, but then I started thumbing through my newest book Scandinavian Stitches by Kajsa Wikman and saw the neatest photo of this "Love Machine" applique. It's not a project in the book (which is full of great projects) and I changed it a bit -- But I just fell in love with the idea of it and had to do it!

Be sure to add this book to your list, it will not disappoint! It's full of simple, sweet, and fun projects, with beautiful photos that are so inspiring to me.
New Book -- Scandinavian Stitches
This pillow is the first thing I've made for myself in quite a while and has a nice new home in my studio. I am adding it to Stitched in Color's Blogger Pillow Party and am just in awe of all the amazing pillows in that group! I just started using my flickr, so if you have your own account on there, I'd love for you to add me as a contact! Wishing you a lovely weekend and happy creating!

  9. What a great pillow! I am not loving my machine today after it misbehaved yesterday, I'd need a "bad machine" on the back so I could turn it round as appropriate!

  10. Thanks for the tip on the book! I need to hunt that one down. And the pillow...so amazing! My sewing machine unfortunately is not my love machine right now. It is acting very naughty and I am getting absolutely no projects finished. *sigh*
