A Bundle of Garden Dreamer Love!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! As the official release of Garden Dreamer approaches, I hear it just started shipping to stores late last week, eek! I'm so excited to finally be able to share this new collection of mine in fabric form today!



My advanced yardage arrived right smack in the middle of the busy holiday and so this morning I've been busy cutting and folding and bundling and photographing and ooohing and awwwing and I'm just so thrilled!



In between holiday orders, I'll be working on as many Garden Dreamer projects as I can come up with for the LookBook. Garden Dreamer Knits : :

My Garden Dreamer knits are here and I love, love, LOVE them!



In the photo above from left to right we have Sprinkled Peonies, Bumble Beez, Diamond Fragments, Twinklestar Berry, and Climbing Posies! I'd love to know which one is your favorite?



These knits are so incredibly soft, I'm dying to cut into them! Since I don't sew garments, I'm trying to come up with a list of non-garment sewing projects for these. If you have any ideas, please feel free to share in the comments!



Here's a quick peek at the new AGF selvages! They've gotten an updated design with a slightly wider width and new artwork to match each designer's style. I'll be sure to share more once my Garden Dreamer quilting cottons arrive this week!

Custom Princess Crowns : :

These colors are some of my very favorites -- peachy pink, dusty rose, smoky blue, and buttery yellow to name a few! These sweet floral motifs were inspired by some of my favorite things -- pressed flowers from Summer, pocket journals, craft supplies, and my washi tape collection. Together they made one of my most popular crown designs and today I'm excited to take Pre-Sale orders for these crowns once again!





Slightly different than the made-to-order personalized crowns you can find year-round in my Etsy shop, each holiday season I love to create a limited amount of a new style that can be customized with an initial or a name of your choosing!

A Winter Patchwork Pillow : :

I love the combination of fabrics that I chose to make yesterday's patchwork stockings so much, that I had to make a patchwork pillow, too!











This one will join my stockings and the other items I've recently listed in my Etsy!

Quilted Patchwork Stockings!

These stockings are right up there with my favorite things to have EVER made! I LOVE patchwork and unique, dreamy, homey décor with a bohemian feel is without a doubt my favorite style!

Yesterday I shared a little peek of the fabric & felt flowers I spent the last couple of days making to dress up my first ever stockings-for-sale, and today I'm so excited to share this new handmade holiday item with all of you!





I started my own stocking assembly line by tracing one of my favorite extra-large sized stockings,  purchased several years ago before I had learned to sew, to use as my template. I picked out a collection of fabrics with a "wintry theme" in mind -- low volumes, shimmery solids, with some traditional holiday jewel tone prints mixed in.



I added my patchwork using my Quick Quilt As you Go method to create these double-sided stockings that can be hung whichever direction you choose!



Each stocking is lined with a Fleet & Flourish knit and the hanging loops are made with AGF denim!



With each stocking comes a beautiful fabric & felt flower cluster with recycled sari silk fringe. I had so much fun making these and love how they turned out! Each is finished with a vintage ricrac loop so they can be easily removed to double as a pretty ornament, as well!

Crafting with Acorns : :

Autumn walks are our favorite and this Fall at the nearby park we regularly visit, we noticed a significant number of acorns on the ground compared to previous years. One giant oak in particular has produced a massive number of acorns. Inspired to craft, we decided to fill a bag to bring home with us and today I thought I'd share our projects!



Most of the nuts had separated from the cupules, so the first thing we did was separate the parts. A bowl for those still completely intact, a bowl for nuts, one for the caps, one for the double caps - our favorites - and a garbage bowl for the cracked and holey. We washed and preserved them with a bake in the oven at 200 degrees for a of couple hours, just to remove any grubby stuff.



I must say I LOVE to craft, and I've missed the number of non-sewing projects the kids and I used to tackle together in years past. As they've grown older, their own imaginations and inspirations have lead them to do so much crafting on their own. While it's so fun to see what they come up with and makes me so proud to be their mama, there's nothing better than getting messy together!

Often times, for me, crafting = garland. But first, glitter! Once our acorns were preserved, Haila and I added gold to each cap. I controlled the glue, she handled the sparkle!





Pairing each nut with a suitable size cap become quite the matching game!

For the ornaments we used the cluster caps we found where two or sometimes three caps were still connected. Adding just a simple loop knot with twine so we can hang them!



For the garland we used twenty to thirty acorns per strand, running twine between each cap and nut before I connected them with hot glue.



So simple and I LOVE how these turned out!







I tried my best to capture how pretty the gold glitter is in the light, but still fell short. It's seriously magical!





This project was so much fun, even if it means cleaning up glitter from in between the floor boards yet again. Totally worth it, I promise!
