Riley Blake Design Team Project & A Fly A Kite GIVEAWAY!!

Today I'm SO excited to be sharing my very first project for the Riley Blake Design Team!!

Fly A Kite Nursery Floor Pillow Tutorial

I created a tutorial for a kite themed nursery floor pillow using Riley Blake's new Fly A Kite collection by October Afternoon. You'll find the step by step tutorial for making this large floor pillow, and even steps for making a smaller version, on the RBD blog today (tutorial to be posted at 9am MST right here). This project turned out to be my favorite pillow yet -- I really hope you like it!

    1. I thought I was the first commenter, but by the time I commented i wasn't....so, anyway, I'm busy designing my first quilt and want to have it completed to use on my front porch this summer. Oddly enough I'm planning on using Fly a Kite because the fabrics are just so cute and summery!

    One of my sewing goals this year is to do a little more paper piecing. I really enjoy its results, but find the process so time consuming and wastefull of fabric. Just gotta get over my "scrimp and save every last scrap" attitude ;-)

  43. My sewing goals for 2012: make two twin bed quilts with matching pillows for the girls, make picnic table cloth for the camper, make a flag for the garden patch and just keep "making stuff". PS your Riley Blake pillows are so cute, they remind me of kite's I used to make as a wee one! Nice Job!

  64. One goal is to finish more than I start this year- that way, the WIPs pile will shrink for once! But I am still allowing myself new projects, or I'd go crazy. So far, it's working- I've finished 2 WIPs and one new project, with another WIP waiting to be quilted.

    There really are quite a few...
    I'd like to finish all those UFO's,
    & make room for some new fabrics-- in just the right hues!
    Some brown, and red, some yellow and teal,
    Sunshine, Seafoam, Pumpkin and pink,
    Pina Colada, with kids and kites..
    ... and cathedral windows!!! Perfect!!! Don't you think?! :-)
