To. Do : :

Today I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and well aware that I may have just a few too many projects waiting to be finished and started.

I thought it might help to make myself a little to-do list. I'm also hoping you might help me make a few decisions. Here it goes...

-- I just started this Dresden project the other day that will become a new Fall pillow for my Mom. Right now it measures 12" x 18" and I hope to have the finished pillow front be an 18" square. I'm just not sure what I should do to add the other 6" I need -- add a single fabric? patchwork? a few stripes of fabric? I'd love your ideas on this one!

Dresden wip

-- With Halloween fast approaching, I just stashed these Denise Schmidt fabrics with hopes to make a patchwork, apron-style dress as part of Haila's Little Red Riding-hood costume. I am feeling very inspired by this recent pin! I just need to find the right red/white gingham and begin!

For my Little Red

-- A little while ago I picked up this $5 chair that, as you can see, is in desperate need of recovering. Do you have a favorite Home Dec fabric? I'd love to see, I really need to find something soon!

$5 Chair project

-- The fabric I just ordered for finishing my new quilt top just arrived. After I add the border, this quilt top will be completely finished!

Sketchbook Quilt wip

-- I'm hoping to make some more progress on my my Bottled Rainbows Quilt today! Sometimes I feel like I took on too much with my plan for this quilt. I cannot wait to have this one completely finished!

In the midst of so much, I'm doing my very best to keep up. Thank you for all the comments lately, it really helps!

  1. oh goodness! that dresden is made from fabric at brenda's shop, right? again, goodness, i love that bundle!!
is your dresden on felt? maybe add 3 inches to top and botton and add some zig zag stitch between the too? OR...add some teeny tiny leaves like your garland along the seam? its beautiful!

  5. I am massively impressed by how productive you are and how beautiful it all is.

I like the idea of stripes on your pillow...although with one as gorgeous as that, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the options that you listed.

  6. I think stripes of fabric would look nice or a solid to keep things simple. I agree Amy Butler would be lovely! I made my kids some cushions using home dec fabric and I was very pleased with my choices :)

  7. Beautiful projects. I know how overwhelming it can all be. When I get overwhelmed I love the saying, "Do without doing and everything gets done." I like to pick what needs to be finished and accomplish that. Then the feeling of accomplishment guides my way to the next project. You are well on your way. Can't wait to see that Red Riding Hood costume!

  8. wow, looks great! that was so me yesterday, I had the whole day with just my youngest and I didn't accomplish a single thing. :( great idea to share and make a list!

  9. The dresden is awesome! Hmm, so if it were me, I'd either add just a solid piece to complete the pillow top, or maybe patchwork from the fabrics used.

Home decor Heath is pretty fabulous, and goes well with pretty much everything.

  10. Hi Maureen, You do seem to be under the pump just a tad, but what great work is pouring out! I am stoked with dresden. Is it a half circle without a centre, then why not sit it on a wall of patches like half a sun coming over a wall. If it is a full plate, I think it doesn't need competition with obvious framing so I'd be inclined to use the same fabric and keep that echo-quilting until the edge of the join (so as not to take away from the pretty centre) I'm sure you'll find a great way to make it happen and thrill your mum.

  11. The dresden is amazing- so pretty. I love a scrappy border made of the dresden fabrics- or your favorite fabric from the dresden or the middle fabric as the border.
    Hope that helps!

And if you were inclined to go crazy with the chair, Echino would be fun!

I have one of those chairs hanging around...I need to paint it and recover! My favorite Home Dec at the moment is the Heather Bailey line...yummy!

  18. Wow, that Dresden project is AMAZING. I love the colors of it and the stitching around the edge. I can't wait to see that when it's done.

All your projects looks great. I guess the best way is just to take one thing at a time, and try and do the most important thing first. I do have lots of to-do printables on my blog for free if you want to take a look!

  20. What fantastic work! So, why is the one for your mum called Dresden?

  21. Loving the pillow!! I'd pick a couple faves from the Dresden plate and do stripes...just at the top or bottom...kind of "off center" the center plate, if that makes sense.

What a find that chair is for $5!! I always choose fabric based on color...where it's going etc...that chair just looks like it's calling out for a geometric to me for some reason. :-)

Make sure you show it off when you're done!

  22. Wow, the dresden plate is looking amazing! Loving the DS fabrics, they'll be so cute for a costume. And I'm always up for Joel Dewberry or Anna Maria Horner dec wt fabric. It will be a great chair no matter what you choose!

Cheering you on to the finish of your Bottled Rainbows! :)

  27. Everything looks beautiful Maureen and I love your dresden with the stitching around it! I can completely relate to taking on too much...it seems to be a way of life, right?! Now that I'm done with the chuppah, I'm looking forward to catching up on blogs and projects before getting bogged down again for xmas. O dear, I don't even want to think about that!

  29. Super cute pillow! I would do some sort of patchwork as the extra 6". Maybe a mix of solids and prints, and echo your embroidery. Very pretty!

  31. Hi, can't wait to see some of these finished! That's not helpful I know :) So if it's a whole Dresden what about a thin solid border with the background fabric before and after it. To frame your Dresden so to speak. Not matter what you choose to do I'm sure it will be beautiful!
