And Finally, I Sewed Something : :

Yesterday, by late morning, I reached that point where I couldn't possibly unpack another box. Thanksgiving planning was taking over, but first I had to try out my new sewing space, finally! And I loved it!! I made this bright and fun King Fox Pillow, a customer order that came through my etsy.

King Fox Pillow

Sewing in this space felt really, REALLY good! Actually, every little thing and moment just seems a little more special now. It is truly wonderful!

FINALLY -- it's time to sew!!

The only not-so-wonderful thing is the empty wall I see while I sew. It needs some artwork or something? Once I got everything unpacked, I was worried about the layout of things a little. I had originally envisioned my table floating in the center of the room, or positioned outward against the wall, but I like to have the center floor space more than I want my table out, so I think a little inpsiration on this wall in front of me, will make it feel just right. I already started my wishlist!

My empty wall

When my pillow was finished it was fun to take pictures in different spots throughout the room. It's a nice, bright space for picture taking, so that's good news, too!!

I think the one with my pom pom garland is my favorite!

I'm off to make desserts, some sides, and prep for tomorrow! I'm really excited to seriously break-in this kitchen and there's no better meal to do that with than Thanksgiving, right?! I think I'll listen to some holiday tunes (my fav is Indie Holiday Radio on Pandora) and start by making something easy, fragrant, and one of my personal favorites, Cranberry -Orange Sauce!

How about you, what's your favorite dish to make?? I'm always looking for new recipes!!

  1. Oh what a sweet cushion, love it!! Looking forward to seeing what you fill the blank space with :) By the way, I bit the bullet and ordered some lovely fabric from The Fat Quarter Shop, the shipping was $17!!! Can't wait until it arrives. Smiles from a very hot and humid South Africa

    1. I'm so excited for you!! I tried to ship an order to London yesterday and at first it was $37!! I switched it from a box to an extra large padded envelope and it came down to $13, but WOW, it can be so expensive!! I try to share deals my sponsors are having to the right there on my sidebar, many times they have deals on shipping, too!

      Happy sewing Rene!!!

  2. The pillow looks great! I like what you've done with your sewing space so far! We are in the process of moving so all my sewing/crafty goodies are in boxes and totes; I can't wait to be settled in and have my space organized again!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. YUM!!! The only other Tyler Florence recipe I make is for his Sweet Potato Casserole here -- http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/whipped-sweet-potatoes-and-bananas-with-honey-recipe2/index.html

I always have to look for things that are easy to make gluten free, but still taste good! :)

  5. Love it! But even better is all that beautiful sunlight pouring in through your windows. Im re-arranging my sewing room today-organizing, purging, simplifying, and making room for a new(well antique, really) fabric cabinet from my mom's house. It reminds me of yours although I think this one is shorter. Get a peek of it near the end of this post:

  6. I love foxes and this one is so cute! I think it may be the new thing ~ it was birds, owls, hedgehogs, things like that ~ foxes are next!
My favorite dish is a Brussels Sprout dish that I made a few years ago for Thanksgiving and it became everyone's favorite!
It's made with Brussels sprouts, of course, agave syrup, garlic and filberts. It's really yummy!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving in your new home!!!

    1. Hopefully foxes are next! :) But, they may have already had a turn. I am seeing a lot of hedgehogs and mice now!

Your recipe sounds great!! I am a big fan of agave. I thought about using that instead of the sugar in the cranberry dish I just made, but I used organic cane and it's good!

  8. I have a large corkboard on the wall next to my sewing machine. I pin list of sewing projects, my kids artwork, cool fabric scraps, ideas, big buttons, etc. Just an idea for your wall space! Enjoy making Thanksgiving in your new kitchen!

  13. Happy Thanksgiving Maureen! If you have any leftover cranberry sauce, try mixing some half and half with marmalade for breakfast toast. It's called Christmas jam and I got the idea from Susan Branch's blog. She shares great recipes.
