Scrappy Improv Quilt : :

Boy was this impossible to get a photo of! Mr. Cracknell Handmade wasn't home and because I did quilting-as-you-go with this one, it is much too heavy to hang with washi tape! Here's how it went...

On the floor? Nope!

Remember my improv lady quilter?

On the table? Not good!

On the sofa? Alright, at least you can see the size here.

From the side? I do like it with my Anthro bolster!

With Jacob's help? He's very excited about this quilt!

Better, but honestly just look at this photo!? If you can't tell that I absolutely LOVE fabric and sewing by this image alone, well then... Really?

Just after my poor child whimpered, "Mom, my arms are hurting!" lol My husband was home, walked in and said, "I think it needs to be bigger!" And so...what I thought might be my finished scraps quilt top remains a wip and believe me, I'll be sure to get those perfect pictures for when it's D.O.N.E! Stay tuned, friends!!

  4. Definitely can be bigger, but it's a wowzer already! I like the balance of the Go Fly a Kite front and center/top center with your scrappy quilter holding the end of it in the left hand corner!

  6. Dear Maureen, I'm so happy to know you! Other wise I would loose all these amazing quilts you make! I like so many kind of quilts but always the colourful scrappy quilt makes the "Oh-Ah-experience"! you know what I mean?! I want to take all my little scraps out of the baskets and start ... but first I need to finish the brown-blue-white quilt ... isn't that boring!
    I love the 'Lady'!

  8. Maureen, oh I LOvE this quilt so much, it's absolutely stunning. I know exactly what you mean about quilts being so hard to photograph. I used to MAKE my children hold them for my, they complained about their arms hurting all the time. My husband is just never at home when the light outside is good for pictures, so they had to take turns. Now I found a tree in my backyard that works really well - I hang my quilts using strong laundry pins and everyone is happy. No more crying children holding my quilts (I know, sounds very torturous, right?)

    1. Most the time my husband is home to lend a hand and we all laugh about how torturing holding a quilt up can be! In my defense he lasted about 3 pictures before he was ready to quit, thankfully he continues to volunteer for these sorts of things!
