In between reading and responding to your comments, I was finally able to finish up my Scrappy Quilt top! I did quilting-as-you-go, so I'm not at all far from having this one completely finished!! Here's a big, messy photo of that last panel of my four newest scrappy blocks, just before I added them to the quilt.

I had the most fun making up my "Improv Quilter Block" and the response I received when I shared her was amazing!! I still can't believe it!
I'm excited today to add this project to the Festival of Scrappiness happening over at Stitched In Color! The scrappy creations to be seen are marvelous and very inspiring!
If I'm being honest, there are several things about my scrappy quilt that I would love to change, but today I'm letting those thoughts go. 1. Because the deadline to join in the festival ends today. :) 2. Because there will always be new scraps that can be made into something new and beautiful. It's true!!
There are also a few things I do really love about this quilt as it is.
This corner, there is just something about it that I really love!
This photo, of my daughter helping her best friend up the ladder, while mine is holding my quilt for me!
We put in a great effort to get those outdoor quilt photos yesterday, but the indoor ones just turned out better. I'm learning that taking the perfect quilt photo is an art form all on it's own. One that is not so natural for me. :)
Most of all, I love seeing all of the many little projects that went into making this quilt. It's like a scrap book in quilt form, that only I (and maybe you too, if you closely follow my daily makings. lol) can really see. It makes all that went into making this quilt seem enormous and that's pretty special.

I agree! She does get lost. That is one of my regrets with this quilt. I think I'm going to make her again, hopefully better my second time around, and finish her off in a mini to hang in my studio.:)

WOW!! How beautiful, The colors are just gorgeous. Love the pics of your children, they look very proud helping mom. What is the final size or do you plan on adding more latter? Ok now I know what scrapy quilt means (using scraps). Love the background showing your livingroom also.

Hi Maureen! Your scrappy quilt is just the best and so beautiful! When I watch it I feel that it is 'the patchwork' in it's first and whole meaning! Perhaps I can't say it well in English but I hope you guess what I mean. I imagine in old times, talented women creating beautiful quilts without knowing all the 'fancy' blocks like we now adays, and they just mixed lovely colours and fabrics as their 'eye of artist' saw it.

Lovely and innovative finish! It does look more balanced bigger, and it'll be cool to see if you come up with more in this vein. Those birdies are awful cute too, esp their bird's eyes!

Yep, sounds like a great idea. the quilt does look magnificent but your girl does get a bit lost in all that fabric ( wow! that could descibe all of us crafting sewing fanatics!)I would love to see her as more of a focus somewhere so a mini would be great! Lovely work maureen!
