  2. Happy Anniversary, I've been sewing for 50 years but have never sewn a quilt! - yet!

  3. I have been a sewer/crafter since the early 50's (just a child then, but learned at my mother's knee). Made my own and my childrens' clothing until they "grew up" and wanted store bought. Now I sew, quilt, crochet for my grandkids and charity. These colors would look great in one granddaughter's room.

  5. Happy Anniversary! I've been sewing since I was a wee one, my first project was a simple stuffed pillow when I was five. I've been blogging for under a year, and you deserve to celebrate the two year mark, so much work goes into your blog, we can all tell!

  8. Happy Blog-iversary to you! I've been sewing clothes since I was about 12. But quilting and surfing the internet for the most beautiful fabrics and sweet patterns and blogs is something I discovered about two years ago. I remember the first time my quilting fabrics from the USA arrived by mail (I live in The Netherlands). Gosh, I was lucky! I made my first quilt with those fabrics, all different quilt blocks in awesome colors and patterns and made a warm quilt with 100% wool batting. I took a nap this afternoon under this quilt, which is my (and my two sweet little white cats) warm and cozy favourite.

  24. Congratulations, Maureen on 2 years. :)
I started quilting over 20 years ago. I still have my first quilt made at a class- ahandpieced/ hand quilted sampler, and I am proud of it because it represents the beginning of my love affair with quilting, fabrics, and later meeting lovely people through blogs. I have made a lot of quilts since then for my family.
Your fabric Giveaway is so pretty- and " Tilly" was our beautiful kelpie dog, we only had her for a few short years but she had such a joy for life. :) Sandy.

  25. Happy Blog-iversary!! I've only been around the blog world since December 2011 and I started following blogs to learn to quilt. You bloggers are an amazing source of information and inspiration! I still consider myself a beginner at sewing. I love to make things that I can use or give to others. I've made an apron, a few purses, a shirt, a notebook tote, etc. Quilting is what I'm interested in right now. Tilly is a lovely collection so I'm crossing my fingers. I know someone who would be a perfect fit for it. :) Thank you for the chance.

  28. Congrats on the anniversary!
My momma and my grandma were always sewing...so i don't really remember not being around it. My favorite thing to sew is usually the LAST thing i made...which was a quilt made to surprise my daughter who is turning 21 in March. I love that she "seriously" hinted for a quilt...made my heart smile!

I just love this Tilly line of fabric! I have been quilting for less than a year ... since I took a week's vacation last summer to do nothing but make a quilt top. My first. That said, I've been reading about and dreaming about quilts for about 30 years. I have lots of knowledge and very little experience. Experience matters!

Congrats on your anniversary! I have been quilting for 2 years this past January and I'd have to say that my favorite project has been a starburst block that I made last year for a bee. This fabric is gorgeous!

  41. What gorgeous fabric - thanks for the chance to win some! I've been blogging for nearly two years now I think but sewing for as far back as I remember. My favourite make is probably the one inch hexie charm quilt - all hand sewn and it not only represents me getting into blogging, but also I've never made something this size entirely hand sewn!

  47. I've been sewing on and off since I was 10 years old. That's when the mother of a friend taught a group of us girls how to make simple peasant blouses and elastic waist long skirts. The fabric I picked for the skirt was yellow with little flowers on it. I was so proud, and I wore that outfit a lot!

I like to think that my taste in fabric has improved since then, because I really love these fabrics that you're offering in your giveaway. Congratulations on your blog! I just can't believe that you've only been sewing for 2 years. You make fantastic stuff!

    Isn't tilly gorgeous!!

I have only been sewing for a couple of years too. I think that the most rewarding thig I have made would have been my daughters pirate princess costume because I didn't have a pattern because there was no such thing as a pirate princess costume when I was looking lol so I had to make it all up and boy did it give me some trouble, mostly he hat lol, so i was really proud when I finished it!!! Not to mention all of the decorations I had to make lol

  50. I think my favorite thing was the first quilt I made - I was so impressed with me! There are been quite a few more since then but I still have that first sampler.

  51. I am currently finishing up a quilt for myself. (Hopefully before all this cold weather so I can use it.) Fabric that you have picked for the giveaway is really pretty.

  52. Oh Tilly is beautiful fabrics. I really like the brownish-redish fabric. So pretty.

I learned to sew a very long time ago. But, raising three boys and working full time with a 2nd job and a deadbeat husband left me little time to do any sewing. The boys are grown and I've remarried an amazing man who bought me an embroidery machine a few years after we met so I've been back into sewing since late 2003 again. Most of the time from 2003 through 2011 was all machine embroidery and projects made with those. I made an awesome wall hanging for a friend's wedding that turned out perfectly. Her husband was a firefighter and I found a really great design of a fireman kneeling down while holding a firefighter's axe head down on the ground while leaning down as if he was praying. It was a great design so that was put at the top of the wall hanging and then on either side of the fireman I stitched a single rose laying down. Then below that I embroidered the entire fireman's prayer below. I did the entire embroidery onto the exact color satin they used in their wedding so it was tricky but it turned out just beautiful. When her husband opened it at their rehearsal dinner he started crying so I KNEW I'd hit a homerun on that gift. I think that's probably the one thing I've done that I'm most proud of.

  61. I'm new at sewing (well, I did play around a little with my mom's sewing machine growing up). I got a sewing machine just this past Christmas from my husband. He let me get it early so it arrived on November 29. I created my sewing blog just a little before then (http://whatkarensews.blogspot.com). I'm slowly learning how to use my machine and make all sorts of fun projects. And I'm working on building my fabric stash! (karendawn at gmail dot com)

  62. Gorgeous fabric! I've been sewing since I was girl - my mother hated it when I sewed because I'd sew by turning the handwheel instead of using the pedal.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I used to sew clothing about 12 years ago when my eldest was a baby. Then 2 more babes came along and I finally unpacked my sewing machine around 6 months ago. I love these Tilly prints and would love to make my first quilt with them!

  74. Love this fabric. My happiest project to date has been a 14" pillow that I made with a lovely old-fashioned chintz - the front was a 12" square from an antique quilt my grandmother made that had breathed its last...such fun... have been sewing since I was 13 (uh, over 40 years! ack!) and love your blog

I'm not sure how grateful I would have been in her shoes though.

Right now I do quilting and simple sewing but I have been sewing off and on all my life. I have been blogging, OMG 2.5 years, I had to look it up.

I guess my favorite thing that I have sewn is my Double Irish Chain Quilt (my first quilt ever) I started in 1990 and finished last year. It is machine pieced but hand quilted, it carries many memories of my Nani with it.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Happy anniversary! I've been sewing for about a year now—started last year with a baby blanket for my expected baby (now 6 mos). I'll be moving a lot the next few years, so I'm testing the portability of this newest hobby of mine.

  104. What beautiful fabric!! Congratulations on 2 years!! I just found your blog last week through Flickr! I have only been blogging since September but I've been sewing/quilting for 18 years! My Grandmother and Mother are quilters so I picked it up from them. Thanks for this great opportunity!

  105. Those are beautiful! My kids love when I make a new quilt. They love to pile them on their beds at night and stay super cozy in chilly New England!

    ReplyDelete
  106. The fabrics are beautiful! I started sewing when I was a little kid because my Nana made drapes for Sears - while she was sewing I would sit with her and make clothes for my Barbies. I never felt very good about my sewing skills until the last year because I have become more patient!! I made a beautiful hooded scarf for Nana for Christmas. Nana is 95 now and can't see well but she said she could feel the seams and how well it was constructed. That made me very proud!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. My first quilt was a full size Halloween quilt and it's my favorite! I think it was the most fun to make because there was no pressure or expectation...just fun sewing!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Happy Blogiversary!

My favorite thing I've made is an around the world quilt in really bright colors. The fabric came entirely from Wal Mart (I know, I know, but hang in there). It was the first thing I made for myself after my divorce from a man whose favorite color is gray. Linda (1961girl at gmail.com)

  115. I had sewed off and on for about 20 years. But it's only been about 8 years that I have really gotten into quilting and making dolls, bags, etc. Still not much of a clothes sewer and really have no interest in it either.

  116. I love Tilly. Congratulations on your anniversary too. I have been quilting for 20 years although I am not very productive. My oldest daughter is getting married next Saturday and then hopefully I will have a bit more time. I don't blog but am a faithful reader of about 30 blogs that tend to link me to other new ones to read. There is so much inspiration out there.

  117. Wow ~ Beautiful fabrics! I have been sewing for about 15 years. My favorite item would be the first blue jean quilt I ever made for my son - I am now working on one for his son( my grandson)! Have a fantastic weekend - lots of sewing time here in Tennessee as rain is forecasted for all weekend!

  124. Congrats! Loving your blog. Keep up the good work! I have only been sewing for 4 years, but I love it! My favorite thing so far is the circles quilt I just finished. It sort of looks like a twister mat, but more colors to it and a Japanese Lego print on the back.

I was not sure I would enjoy it but I've really come to find it can be very calming, even if I'm struggling to understand how to put a block together. At the end I have something to show for my work, which is great! I hope to get better and also learn applique.

  140. I've made many very special quilts but the one that really is on the top of my list is a cute quilt that I made for my niece who became paralyzed from a diving accident this summer. It was really something to see her face light up when I gave it to her on her birthday 3 months after her accident.

  141. I've been sewing since I was 6 or so, my grandma taught me the basics but until I got my first proper sewing machine in 2006 I stuck to very simple projects. Now I make clothes for my daughter, handbags for my girlfriends and myself and recently started making clothes for vintage dolls for a local "Doll Hospital". I've been blogging about my crafty undertakings since July 2010 and I totally enjoy reading your blog : very inspiring use of colors
Here's to hoping those pretty fabrics make their way into my stash

  142. This is a wonderful collection of colors and prints. I started sewing by hand as a kid of 7 or eight - Mom wouldn't let me touch the sewing machine until I was in Jr. High. I tried to get into Home Ec but my school was not open to letting a guy in to that class, so Mom relented and let use her machine. It always drove her crazy that I'd never mark my fabric, just cut and sew, maybe a couple pins if they were really required. Sorry for the novelette here. I can be emailed thru my blogger profile.

On a whim, I bought a sewing machine from Target, 50% off, about 4 years ago. I have taught myself how to sew in the past 4 years. Each time I go to my machine it's a sewing lesson in itself :) One I love!

  146. Happy Anniversary! I've been sewing for 53 years, but blogging for less than a year. Yours is truly one of my favorite blogs. You are so creative, and your posts are so inspiring.

My Etsy shop 1-Year anniversary is coming up Feb. 21, but I had my shop open for awhile before I ventured into the blogosphere.

  147. My favorite thing I've ever made was a quilt for my daughter's 5th birthday. It was my first, so I made lots of mistakes. I used some of her old clothes and the blocks went together wonky and I didn't know how to do the backing, really and the quilting was a bust, but it turned out ok and she sleeps with it every night. I'm about ready to start another smaller one for a friend's new baby.

Now, almost 20 years later, I had the chance to visit my cousin and she still had it! Crafting and making things is such a joy! I am so proud to teach my children the same! Thank you for your inspiration! Happy crafting :)

  155. Very nice line and the story behind it is great too. I have a mom that has been an inspiration to me when it comes to creativity. I don't know the exact age I started sewing but I remember sitting on the floor while my grandma sewed clothes for us girls. My mom has always sewed too. I caught the bug and really got into sewing once I had children. I made a lot of their clothes. Now I make quilts, pillows, and baby items.

  156. I don't remember when I started sewing. My mother has been my inspiration, she is so talented. Her mother also sewed, I remember she made dresses for me and my sisters. I really got into sewing once I had children, and have not stopped since. They are now in their 30's.

  167. Congrats on your anniverary - I feel like I have been sewing in ne form or other for ever. i learnt as a young girl - (hated it). The started making clothes when at university ( I couldn't afford to buy clothing in the shops. Stopped then started making quilts. Stopped again as I was bored with the fabric choice and took up tapestry and cross stitch. Stopped that. Started making quilts again which i still do as todays fabrics are great. Now i am also making clothing again. Not a day goes by when i do not think of fabric or am actually sewing.

  181. Happy Anniversary!

I have been blogging for a total of three years. The longest on my weight loss blog. My craft blog was started a little over a year ago (seriously started) when I decided I had to learn how to knit to help alleviate stress from going to law school (I graduate this May!). Since then I have taught myself crochet, paper crafting, digital scrapbooking, jewelry and candle making, sewing, and quilting. People always ask how I find time in law school. Sometime I don't, but I try to schedule at least one hour a night for myself to craft or relax with crafty magazines, etc. :)

    Thanks for the chance!
