  3. I have a prayer box that I wear every day on a silver chain. I picked it up at Kohls years ago and had it blessed. I typed up this prayer, rolled it up and tucked it inside the box. It's very calming. Sending prayers for you and yours.

Isaiah 12:2 “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation.”

  4. Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway.
I use to have a lot of people I could confide in and share with. That amount of people has dwindled to none...I don't share with anyone anymore. It's sad really and I've had a hard time managing without that normal support system. But I have to keep telling myself that if my need is great enough then there will be someone there for me to talk to. My motto lately is to just keep smiling and keep moving on. Thank you for sharing your stories and hope the day finds you happy!

  5. Thank you for thanking us. I too have some potentially serious health troubles...I focus on creating and staying positive. Sometimes my creations are part of my day job, sometimes my beautiful daughter and all that she learns every day, and sometimes they are knitting or sewing tasks.

  6. What a fun giveaway! I love all these fabrics.

I love a good quote. One of my fav quotes is "there's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be" from 'all you need is love' by the Beatles.

Another: "You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore."- Christopher Columbus

And: "Keep on going and chances are you will stumble on something, perhaps when you are least expecting it. I have never heard of anyone stumbling on something sitting down."Charles F. Kettering

And: "Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but to be fearless in facing them. Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it."-Rabindranath Tagore

And: "The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor (wo)man perfected without trials."- Chinese Proverb

  7. That looks like a great sew along. It would be much easier though if there were options to follow her blog via google reader and also email notification of her posts. OR maybe those are there and I just am not finding those. Love the sew along she's starting this next Tuesday though. Little projects like that are always fun.

The one thing that really helps me when I am really depressed is looking at our wedding pictures. I am so lucky to have found my husband and the one picture which is hanging in our bedroom from our wedding that always makes me smile is right after we were pronounced husband and wife, he knelt down, grabbed my hand and kissed my hand. I was totally shocked but he'd warned our photographer ahead of time he was going to do it so the picture is awesome.

  10. My middle daughter was having tantrums and I didn't know what to do. Unfortunately I was at my wit's end and spanking. One day at church I just started praying to God to give me patience and stop spanking. I haven't spanked her in weeks and her behavior has significantly improved. God is great!

  26. Like many women, I have suffered with depression off and on at various points of my adult life. One quote that has always resonated with me during the tough times is "We cannot prevent the birds of sadness from flying over our heads, but we can stop them from making a nest in our hair." I think it is a Chinese proverb, I love that it acknowledges that there are going to be rough patches in our lives, but that it is up to us to push on through and not let it get the best of us! Happy new year to you... I do so love reading your blog. Thank you for sharing this dear bundle, these are just my colours!

  35. Something I find soothing is, "It will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end." So far, that's come true. Sometimes it takes the very long perspective, but in the midst of a crisis, it settles me down.

  36. What a neat fabric bundle! Everyone has such great quotes, sayings and prayers. I've even copied some for myself. hehe. I remember after my brother was killed on the job several years ago, our family was devistated. I remember what my Dad said one day when someone asked him how he was doing. He said he gets up in the morning, does what has to be done... and the next day he does the same thing again. Each day is putting one foot in front of the other. I also tell myself, this too shall pass. Let go, Let God. I take a deep cleansing breath. I also remember to count my Blessings, for which I have many. It could always be worse.

Thank you and Fresh Squeezed Fabrics for an awesome giveaway and a chance to win. You are in my thoughts and prayers and may 2012 be a year full of Blessings and answered prayers.

  48. I have always been a huge fan of the song Amazing Grace and the words are ever so wonderful. I often sing it softly to myself. And just in case someone doesn't know all the words...

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind, but now I see

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear
    And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
    The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares

    I have already come
T'was Grace that brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home

When we've been here 10thousand years
    Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
    Than when we've first begun

I once was lost but now am found
Was blind, but now I see

  55. I read your post the other day and never got a chance to comment. I am 35 and around 30, I found out I have medical issues that are hard to live with at times and likely to be with me for my lifetime. I have good days and bad days, but I think acceptance is always the first step.

Things that help are being kind to myself, trying to focus on my blessings and being grateful for all I have. I try to remember that although what I deal with on a daily basis sucks, it could always be worse. I try to keep my focus on other areas of my life that I really enjoy. And yes, there are bad days. Days I am in tears, wondering why I have to have this and how I am so young and how it is not fair. And I just accept that those days will come every now and again. But I get past them, pick myself up and again try and be grateful. I have a lot of good things in my life.

Wishing you all the best. There are a lot of people out there who care for you and will be with you through your journey.

I look forward to contuing to read your blog. :) You are such an inspiration!

  74. 1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that have been kindly given us by God.

I always think of this scripture aound the holidays and birthdays where we focus on gifts for/from friends and family, but might forget the blessings we already have.

I also try to keep it in mind when I receive bad news. To me it means that although I have problems, God has also given me strength and courage, family and friends, and faith to work through them. I have never have had to face anything as serious as what you are currently dealing with, but it certainly seems as if you are blessed with the spirit to see it through bravely and with faith.

  79. thanks for the chance to win, maureen! whenever i feel overwhelmed or off balance, the thing that helps me the most is concentrating on enjoying and staying in the moment. it might sound silly, but something as simple as forcing myself to just think about how the ground feels on my feet can help me feel more grounded. and that moment spent not thinking about what's wrong or all of the things i need to do is enough to feel a bit less overwhelmed. xo

I have an old Irish proverb I recently read and I really like it. I'm going to make it my mantra for the year. "You'll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind" For years I've been wanting, dreaming, promising that I will learn to quilt. This year is going to be the year, even if I'm scared to death of it!

  115. I find that when I'm getting down, it's usually because I'm too focused on myself and being selfish rather than looking outside to see what I can do to help others. Therefore, one of my favorite quotes is, "What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?" (It's a George Eliot quote from one of "his" books.)

To get some fresh air while waiting for him to have a proceedure, I went for a short drive and found my way to a bookshop and my heart directed me to the perfect little book for me at that time..It is Spurgeon's Cheque Book of Faith and each time I am feeling bankrupt in strength or courage I grab it and read and get a fresh deposit in my faith account almost immediately and it has paid huge dividends to date..by helping me through this lastest trial and giving me hope for each day, by reminding me of the love that God has for us and the help that is so readily available.

I do a lot of walking to keep myself perked up, not least walking around the office to talk to people rather than use e-mail or phone - it's not exactly arduous to walk round the corner or up and down a flight of stairs! Plus, it usually resolves problems much more quickly - it's good to talk :o) The fresh air and exercise of a lunchtime walk or walking home also leaves me invigorated, even if I don't feel like it when I set out

I'm concentrating on my pattern, and the enjoyment I find in making things for others keeps my mind off of anything that might be bothering me. The other thing I can rely on, is prayer. I ask God and my angels for help on a particular problem and for strength to help me get through it. Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway!!
